This is more of a stupid question. I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 2.7L with a 5 speed manual. This is my daily driver and what I'm trying to do is come across a simular model that has a automatic transmission and swap it. I know everything that I will need to preform this swap computer tranny cables sensors etc.. I plan on grabbing a wrecked tacoma with the set up. The things that I dont know and my question is what year tacoma's can I use? can I use a earlier model or a newer model and swap the computer and plug it in or were there some changes with the computer that I have to be concerned about? And did 1999 toyota tacoma 4x4 with the 2.7 even come with a automatic transmission or were they all manual? I wanting to do this swap because its my daily driver and automatic is much easier. My whole goal is to return this thing to stock and not have to worrie about pushing 3 pedals to get to work. Any help on this I would appreciate it..

I had a 4x4 stick shift 2.7l Taco about that vintage and it was a major pain in the ass to drive in traffic.

Trade it for a auto. No telling what you are going to run into doing the swap.

Yea it's TRD. I know whats involved in doing the swap and I'm sure I'll run into a few problems but I'm not to worried about it I'm just trying to find out what years that I can use for the swap and if the 1999 toyota tacoma 4x4 came with a auto at all.

LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...
You going to need the engine/transmission wiring harness as well, so it doesnt really matter as long as its from the same generation since your replacing everything anyway.
