The same shit everyone else has.
The tires sling shit up on the wheel liners. It drips down and comes out there.

In all seriousness OP, either wash the truck or avoid puddles when you can so stuff doesn’t get kicked up. You could try the weatherstrip, but I think it’d look bad.

A simpler solution to removing anything is just pump some clear silicone calk into the gap between the flare pieces. if you're careful it might not show TOO badly...Taking the flares off is a pain in the kiester!

That's pretty much what I did. I masked off the seam top and bottom, then pumped in black RTV before removing the tape. It totally eliminates the road grime & mud from coming out the seam. I have a white truck and it looks like it came from the factory that way.

I agree with both you guys. Going to pick up some silicone tomorrow. Not all of us are off roaders. Giving it to my son in a few years so I'm trying to keep it like new. Stays in the garage when I'm not using it rain or shine. 2014 Trail Teams Sport, manual, short bed, 22k miles and it looks excellent. Going to get a 3-2 lift and give to him. (wheels and rims as well)

As the tires rotate, they through the dirt in an outword spiral. Coating your whole wheelwell front to back with whatever the tire has passed through. If you drive over a freshly painted line on the roadway, you'd see that your tire will have throw the paint all over the wheelwell. If it's mud and it them gets wet, it will flow down following the path of least resistance. It it comes across a seam between two body panels like a fender and a bumper, it'll eventually find its way out.
    Just the way it is.
You'd have to give it a real good power wash to try and minimize it. Hard to get all of it everywhere.

You are trying so hard to keep it clean and looking like new just so you can give it to your son. Man that's Awesome but the day after you give it to him he will go pick up his buddy's and see what that Taco can do. I am sure there is a place around there they go to mud ride. I gave my boy a 94 4runner 4x4 on his 16th birthday and the next day he was crossing creeks with water coming in the doors and trying to sink it in the mud getting pulled out by his friends. He would try to spray it off before he came home but I could tell. Just look underneath or open the hood the motor would be covered in mud. I just laugh cuz I did the same Shit then and sometimes still do. That's what they are made for.
