Only the trucks that have duel auto climate control have the auto headlight turn on option. An additional 2 grand option that should be mandatory for lights. There is a switch for auto high beams but not for auto headlights on. Figure that one out. When will I actually ever use auto high beam over auto headlight turn on. Ass backwards if you ask me.20190617_115139.jpg

Look man, should auto light come standard in this day and age? Probably. Did my base model '93 Grand Cherokee Laredo have them? yes. However, its not Toyota's fault that you didn't do your due diligence and make sure that the truck you were buying came with all of the features you want.

It’s only mandatory in Canada. I just usually leave mine in DRL when I go to switch it off or drive around during the day.

Predator steps, TRD cat-back, lots of orange stickers.
Toyota took it a step back (forward?) and removed self-illuminating gauges from the 3rd gen. Which is weird. The Scion I learned to drive in had self-illuminating gauges. My 2001 and 2003 Toyota Celicas had self-illuminating gauges (AND auto headlights!), so it's kinda weird how these trucks don't. Point is, if you're driving a 3rd gen at night with the lights off, you'll know. Despite the super bright DRLs. I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing. The problem of people driving at night with only DRLs is very real, especially when people hop into a rental car and go flying down the freeway in the pitch dark, nav screen at full brightness, clueless factor cranked up to 11, but I digress..

Why Toyota made auto lights optional on these expensive trucks, on a TRD model no less, is beyond me. I assumed everyone got it, then again I have Premium/Tech.

Welcome to TW! Toyota in general is a little behind on stuff like that. They are really excited about the addition of power seats for the 2020 Tacoma.
