oil change

hi everyone
i have found a lot of information regarding oil changes that have been helpful.
i would like to know has anyone run into problems or should have done this instead.
i am going to start changing my own. i never done my own oil change on my 17 tacoma trd the dealer has always taken care of it. what does everyone recommend when to change at 5-6 months or 5k miles

Intervals are at 10k miles or 1 year for changes on synthetic oil. Go down with a paint pen and mark your oil drain plug so you know which one it is. The other one is the transmission fluid..... don't touch that one.

There's A LOT of U-Tube Videos showing step by step instruction on 3rd generation oil change. Follow this instruction every 10,000 miles. It's not difficult at all.

 

Starting out follow your manual. You have a 3rd gen? What is the official Toyota Tacoma recommendation? I believe its every 10,000 miles? I’m not sure how many months. 0W-20 weight? Does it require synthetic?

 

If the fluid is red. You screwed up

 

Take off the skid plate and that’s where you need to be. Also, make sure you have a big oil pan. First time I did mine my 5.5 quart pans almost over flowed. About 6 quarts will come out. Spilled everywhere trying to pour back in the empty container. Also was a flimsy container.
