What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

1. As I mentioned, I purchased this to warm up my truck's engine every morning as I leave home from work. My truck is parked in the garage and in a secured gated complex. I do not plan on turning the auto start in public places.
So, if it's in a garage, how cold is it? Carbon monoxide going into the home not a concern? Mine is garaged, and even on most every single Colorado winter day, I do not feel the need to use my remote start. I will admit, I got mine as a gift, and at work is when I use mine, when it's been sitting outside all day in the cold or hot days (and rarely even then).

2. I am not lazy, if I was I will not get a work truck and would have just got an auto-pilot vehicle instead.
All to press a button once more in a day. Auto pilot vehicles still not proven the way to go just yet. More about starter wear & tear on next line...

3. The reason I am asking this is because I know if every morning now I have to turn on the engine twice it will depreciate the starter and ignition coil eventually.
Well, then don't use the brakes when attempting to stop this will help them last longer. Using A/C in the summer will eventually cause that system to need service sooner.
In all reality, the starter of a Toyota has been and is reliable, robust and will last a lot longer than starters of vehicles we had back when. I only ever had to replace one starter, and drove old ass Chevelle, Suburban, GTI and late 80's Mustang. Only in the GTI did I have to replace a starter, and that car had almost 200K miles, and I used it as a delivery driver for a couple years (see starting the vehicle 40-50 or more times a day as the culprit there).

4. If thieves drive our trucks without the key, won't it indicate "key not detected" and immobilize the engine after a few minutes of driving the truck?
"Key not detected" will illuminate, but how far would you like them to go? Personally, my answer is "zero feet". The way I understand it, the immobilizer won't shut the truck off instantly, if it's a couple minutes, I could do some damage within a couple minutes in somebody else's truck...especially knowing I only had a minute or two.

5. I asked this question in a polite and respectful manner, is this really how it is people feedback?
Sorry, that is who I am. No disrespect intended. I'm just an ass. If we met in real life, you'd understand it's not meant to make you feel like less of a person, I just veil my pain in humor.

Got my Intra-tech Sunshade and Kicker Subie Tweets yesterday. Put the tweets in easy enough (though I had to go buy some metric wrenches for the two fasteners closest to the windshield) and tested it with some Muse. Gonna be hard not to wanna swap more speakers...

I got a Mountain Hatch tailgate insert for Father’s Day. Super easy to install and makes the tailgate much nice to use for all sorts of stuff!

 

I threw away a bottle of Adams Tire Shine yesterday. 2 days of rain fell on my truck sitting out in the parking lot and washed the tire shine off. Tires were cleaned good before I applied it.

I use Maguire’s dressing. I’ll look at the actual name pt# tonight but it’s water based, which when I was researching aT the time is a safer product on rubber. It’s a professional grade product that you’ll have to order online and you can dilute it to the desired ratio according to your sheen level, so my gallon is lasting a ridiculous amount of time. I like more of a satin look than super glossy but I’ve had good results and notice it’s still on after a rain. I haven’t timed it to see how long before it doesn’t look like anything though.

 

I may try a water based tire shine. I like the shine I guess because my wheels are black.

 

I use the NO TOUCH satin finish on all my tires. Lasts for weeks through the rain and storms. Not too glossy. Spray. Let it dry. Done.

 

Finally got my stage 4. Way better then expected feel!! Now got to look into that SSO bumper! Not sure what winch to go with yet?
