I usually get 21-23 mpgs on my way to work, but this is a new record for me...

I always wondered why the truck seems to run smoother when it rains. Maybe this is part of the reason.

Yeah, it'll run a little smoother, mpg plummets though.

You have to find a medium between gunning it and old person. Or throw a mix of both. Coasting alot at high speeds helps.

What makes you say that? I just gave you research on the subject that shows otherwise.

I always thought it was due to the colder weather. Here is Oregon, it mostly rains in the winter and the temps avg from 35-50. Always difficult to avg 20 mpg in the winter, but I like a challenge. :)

Good read.. Although the research paper said, "wet". Now you have to define "wet"? In any sort of accumulating rain on the highway, you can put your computer on "real-time" mpg & watch your mpg go down by 2 or 3 (maybe more) mpg. Viscous friction in front of the contact patch.

I hate to rain on your parade. :D

I was shocked to see this one back in February:

    IMG_20190218_145654.jpg

I filled up just before getting on the highway and even got stuck in some traffic on that trip in two places. It was a run from near the WA coast to my home doing about 65.

I managed some pretty spectacular numbers on pure highway with cruise locked at 66 mph.
26+ mpg for a whole tank, twice in a row.
