Bought the truck at 124k miles, currently at 131k and doing some maintenance.

I have very minor experience with general maintenance and that's it.

This Is the first plug I've taken out and it doesn't look good.

    Suggestions?

I dunno man, that doesn’t look bad to me at all. Looks like a little crud on the threads, but nothing terrible. I’ve seen waaaayyyyy worse. Do you know how long those plugs have been in the engine?

Is this the first time the plugs have been replaced?

If so, I wouldn’t worry about it. If it’s running ok, replace, drive for 5-10 K miles and recheck.

No idea if they've ever been replaced.

Im pretty sure the oil on the top was somebody putting too much oil on the K&N filter and it running down.

Im checking the throttle body after this.

Your plugs are fine for them being original. Replace and move on with life.

Yeah, they prolly have 131k miles on them.

Be careful taking them out, some might be more difficult than others and you don’t want to snap them. Make sure you seat the socket fully.

Don’t know about the sludge as you call it. Mine had a similar look at the bottom of the threads at 59k miles.

If you suspect an over oiled K&N, get a dry filter & search the forum for:
    1) - Clean MAF sensor and
    2) - Clean throttle body.

Use the appropriate product and technique for both.

Keep the oil clean and the routine maintenance up and you should be good for at least 500k

That’s not bad at all actually and I thought mine were bad. Lol I recently just changed out my spark plugs on my 2010 at 122,000 miles. They had been in there for about 35,000 miles a little longer than I wanted them to as I couldn't get to changing them out and these are what they looked like

Those are not original plugs. They are fairly new iridium plugs, can't make out the brand. Check the gap; should be around 0.040. Also appears to be anti-size residue on the threads.

The plug looks good, especially if original. It’s firing great. Just install a new set and enjoy your Taco.
