I hear ya. California is a special place and not for the weak minded. It takes balls to be a Californian and hang it out there with world leadership and forward thinking. Those who can’t handle it do (understandably) move to another easier state. For some, it’s more comfortable to be a follower. So other states don’t get California’s best and brightest.

This is it. For anyone who actually lives in CA and has a permit, I'm sure they can attest to just how much of a "grey area" it can get if you actually did have to use your firearm in a life/death situation. There are no takebacks once that firearm goes off, and you better hope you are ready for the aftermath.

In fact, when I took my training class, I left the class less enthusiastic than when I went in. It's hard to say this, but it's almost easier here in CA to not carry at all and defend yourself another way, then to carry and accept the consequences if you had to shoot someone. You need something like a minimum of $10-$20k in your account when you carry (to cover lawyer fees, court fees, etc) and you better have a game plan already planned beforehand (a good example: the training class I took actually partnered with a local CCW laywer and they gave us his card to keep in our wallets at all times in case we did have to shoot someone) because again, if it's not the suspect going after you, it will be their family, other lawyers, the state, etc.

So to the OP, keep your head on a swivel, get some mace and/or a small taser-style weapon for your family, train with those items as often as you can, and you should be good. You can still eliminate (or deter) almost all possible threats, and you won't have to have the constant idea in the back of your head that your life is F-U-C-K-E-D if you did have a firearm and you had to use it for some unfortuante reason.

I hear you both. Different states have different strengths etc. But no matter what state you live in, corruption and incompetence rule the day. A given state sucks in that it’s particular flavor of fascism happens to be different from another’s. Feds too. They all get away with an insane amount of unconstitutional bullshit. I love talking about this stuff and it’s a big problem, but please keep it on topic before this thread gets locked.

I carry a Glock 26 legally with a CCW permit in Shasta County. You can have I believe 3 pistols on the permit. It takes time to get it but depending on the county you live in it may be more or less difficult for you than it was for me.

I also carry pepper spray as a less lethal option so I don't have to go straight to the firearm. Better both ethically and in the headache of legal battles you'll be in after shooting someone.

Well said. That's why I carry both my firearm and pepper spray.

Carry a second, disposable wallet in a different pocket. Keep like $20 in small bills in there and just hand that one over immediately.
