That’s when I fire up the canner. Lots of stuff you can do with tomatoes, salsa, tomato sauce, V-8 juice, stewed tomatoes, heck I even made ketchup one year.

Me too. Mine look rather anemic compared to years past, but I haven't given up.

Please tell me more. I would like to try canning .

On another note, I am reaching out to those who know a little about punkins . A got two that are that are really taking off and would like and appreciate tips on supplying calcium to help with the blossoms and avoid them falling off . Ideally I would like to get two or three on each plant . No more. Thanks all and happy gardening! My tomatoes that I have in those grow bag are doing outstanding. Pics to follow tomorrow

I wonder if neem oil will work?

    http://www.saferbrand.com/articles/benefits-uses-neem-oil-for-plants

1 fluid ounce makes one gallon. I learned that it only lasts about a week after mixed . There are 6 teaspoons in a fluid ounce so 1.5 teaspoons make a quart. A little bottle sprayer and a quart mixed would be perfect. I did that and whatever was eating holes in my bean , tomato and other leaves stopped. A 16 oz bottle of Neem concentrate is or should be less than $20 . This stuff has many uses.

I was mixing a whole gallon batch and it still worked ok but since I have been using small batches it is much more Affective

I have been using Neem oil for the aphids on my tomato plants and lace wings on my azaleas. I'm going nuclear against the Japanese beetles. I'm worn out with the bugs.

I recommend them if yours are struggling in the sloppy weather in plastic containers. Mine are in 15 gallon bags. I wish I got mine on Amazon in 20 gallons

this clump of festucca..fescue..is moving to new location shortly, has not done as well as should here in the white planter. I was watering it the other day, and a few drops of water pinged an unseen spider web strand and a huge ugly black spider zoomed down web to the plant, from the eave above. I was startled by the quickness, but then looked closer to see the red marking underbelly. the spider shortly ascended the strands. The black widow generally considered a beneficial but also venomous spider. Too close for comfort, so I deleted it. sorry.

That's why I stagger the planting dates on my tomatoes now. Of course, by the end of August I'm still inundated, sick of BLT's, and it's time to make sauce.

My ghosts haven't done much in height, but they are getting bushy. And they have little buds just starting to come in.
