Just picked up my 09 4cyl RWD... today. It was just safetied. I’m not sure what kind of fluid it’s leaking—if it’s gas or oil—but it’s definitely not water. The leak is in the front towards the centre. Should I take it into the shop?

P.S. As I was driving it home, I realized I was in the “3” mode instead of drive. Realized after about 2 hours of being on the highway. Could that have something to do with it?

First check it though it may not be water it might be antifreeze if it smells sweet and not oily and it is slick it is likely antifreeze . Then start checking hoses. If it is slick but not sweet could be Oil, Trans, power steering perhaps even brake . Check your fluid levels and get under the truck and start looking . Follow the spray pattern back to origination. Beware just as in a house the leak could be anywhere and running down wires , frames etc so it may not be easy to trace. Try white paper taped to some cardboard under the truck see what color it is that will help. If you really want to id it test each item for smell brake fluid, engine oil, power steering, radiator you can not do it with trans as no dipstick . But process of elimination you should find the system then the leak.

Just looks like engine oil to me, why not get under there and grab us a pic of exactly where it's dripping from? We could tell you more then.

Also it's hard to tell from that picture but it kind of looks like your engine cross member might be covered in oil.

Almost looks like your A/C drain my friend.

I am unclear if it's under the left side or right side.

The pic of it on the concrete looks like water.

On second look I kind of agree that last pic does look like AC condensate. OP need more pics!

I stuffed some extra fuel line I had never used into my A/C drain and routed it away from the frame so now it drips near the inside of the right front tire areas.

Sorry guys I haven’t been on in a bit. I took it to Toyota, my pan was leaking engine oil. I’m pretty sure the dealer who sold it to me is going to cover to have it fixed where I live. Also, the Toyota in Scarborough just did the frame recall but apparently only did the rust prevention coating when they were supposed to replace the whole frame. I know this because when diagnosing the leak, my local Toyota also tapped the frame with a hammer because they were suspicious, and it made a hole clean through!
