The drivers side was a pain in the ass. Do it first and the pass side will be easy. I did them by myself and didn't use a jack. I had my jacks under my bronco. I just used 2 jack stands. Another set of hands would have shaved an hour or more off, but it was ok. I didn't go with top plates due to not being able to paint them well. If I did, I would silicone where they meet on the under side or something after painting. There is no way to really get paint up there well.

    Hey, a fellow FoCo-ite.

Hmmm, wonder if this is a recent change. According to their website "All hardware and installation instructions provided (grade 8 hardware where applicable)." Although, what's "where applicable"? Shouldn't all the nuts and bolts be grade 8?

I just did mine a week or two ago and they were indeed all grade 8

Just got mine Thursday and installed last night, the bolts are grade 8. For some reason I have extras, it seems the bolts are too big, I'd rather go buy smaller, than drill hole in the frame.
Quality is great, instructions are shit. I had no problem using a floor jack by myself. Biggest issues were fishing the driver's side nuts in to frame up front, and not realizing there were little plastic caps in the frame, causing me to have remove lots of hardware, to get the slider to move away from the frame enough, to remove the plastics caps, to let the bolts through.

There were a couple extra for the optional drill ones. I didn't have any spots where the 1/2 bolts wouldn't fit.

Humm, I'll have to look at it again, the bolts with the thick half washers, were just slightly larger than the holes in the frame. So close, at first attempt, I tried to tap one in with the end of a breaker bar.

Are you referring to the plastic conduit that was held in with a plastic clip and some tape? How did you zip tie it back? I can't find anything to zip it to.

    This thing?

OP, thanks for this thread. I just did mine and not quite done yet. I can't get my arm inside the frame for the front bolt on that cross member bracket. As well as my above issue/question.

For those interested, I did it myself without a big floor jack. I used the one in the truck to help push it into place plus some jack stands. Real pain in the ass, but got it done. Probably spent 4+ hours overall, which included undoing a few things when I did it wrong.

Want to thank everyone who has posted in this thread. I installed my DCLB today by myself and it was a breeze. I used my tacoma's jack toward the back half of the sliders and some sand bags to level off the front. Probably took me 2.5 hours total because I read the instructions ten times and this thread.

I found this guys video and felt like he focussed in a lot of the little details I was questioning. You might skip the opening spiel about bad traffic, the good part is at around 2:53...

I looked for a good video online and totally missed this. It's pretty good and covers the major muscle movements.

Wow, was not too bad after a lot of recon reading the various threads here and watching the videos. so many thanks to many folks!

Less than 3 hours under the Taco, (90 minutes driver side, 60 passenger).
It would have been less but I suffered a few episodes of brain-fade while under the truck.

Just spoke with Jeff regarding the hardware. He said all their stuff is supplied with grade 8 hardware. Probably changed it up from the grade 5 stuff following alot of inquiries.

Thread revive! Just installed my Rci sliders on today and have a question on the bolt that screws into the front bracket onto the bottom of the cross member. Mine doesn’t tighten, it just keeps spinning. The bolt is all the way through but when tightening it, it will get tighter tighter tighter and if you go one more it’ll reset and feel loose. Anybody have the same issues?

Pics? I bet the threads on the frame or bolt got buggered. Might need to get in there with a thread tap and renew them.

Thought I’d share photos of my rci sliders in case anyone cares. Took me about 2 hrs from start to finish by myself.

RCI instructions are not very helpful, but this thread was, so thanks for the good info.

I agree with everyone about the driver side being more difficult. I had an issue trying to get the control module bolted back on. The bolts welded to the module bracket were not long enough to go through frame and slider.

However, still very happy with the sliders. Work great as a step and I put them to use a few weeks ago. No noticable damage after sliding over a rock and rubbing a tree
