So does that mean technically your truck is a 96 or does that mean stuff is just different with yotas

Year model naming is simple marketing game and regardless what name they print on the window sticker it is still manufactured in 1995. Same stupid game as naming TRD, Limited or SR5. Some may care about the name or badges and stickers, what I am interested in what is inside the machine I'm driving. Therefore for the purpose of counting in this thread I look at the manufacturing date printed on the VIN door jam sticker, not the name given by marketing department.

the EPA sticker under the hood is meaningless for your tally as well?

it might be nice if someone with a VIN door jam of one of the last several months of '95 and pic of what their EPA hood sticker says

Do all trucks have this California compliance sticker? And if so would year of but be the same as a compliance requirements? I don't know. But I know the door jam sticker shows built year that probably is true fact.

I don't know if year sales figures aro for calendar year or for trucks built that year but really it is not rocket science, it's just cool to know how many of the first year trucks are still out there. For sure that fleet is shrinking every year making them more and more unique.

My opinion is that 1995 1/2 Tacomas all have uncommon variances in options and almost 1/2 of them have questionable model years.

I posted a underhood emissions sticker of a 1995 Tacoma with the production date of 8/95 that complies with the 1995 model year.

before i traded in for my '97 Taco I had a '95 pickup (4cyl single cab bare bones) ... I do not recall what the production date was on the door jam (perhaps it was built in late '94 )
i bot it slightly used in early May'95 with about 1200 miles on the odometer

does anybody know if they were already making Tacoma's in Jan/Feb '95 and ALSO making/selling pickups at the same time?
... i would like to say i know the answer but nearly a 1/4 century has ticked by real quick
if/when I stumble upon the VIN I will try to get one of those CARFAX that may list the production date? ... assuming it has not went to salvage title by now or somewhere south of the border lol

I don't know the answer to your question but I distinctively remember seeing brand new pickups and brand new Tacomas on the same semi truck trailers being delivered to Toyota dealers but that doesnt necessarily mean their production dates were the same. Dealers trade amongst themselves so I don't know if all the pickups and Tacomas on those trailers came straight from the factory on the same trailer. I instantly fell in love with the Tacoma which is why I remember. San Diego county.

i did too (I think lol), but the real sharp xtraCab ones were (IIRC) almost $10k more than the plain little blue single cab i got was (and I wasn't real fond of the preTaco xtraCabs (co-worker had one) ... so i had to wait a couple years until finances were better to shell out +25k$ out-the-door minus trade-in for a sharp looking (to me) beast of a compact truck

Yeah I was buried in bills when they came out, it was a "one of these days I'm going to get a used 1995 Tacoma 4X4..." kind of thing.

so we need to hunt down those on TW with a '96 model year and see if their door jamb sticker has a late '95 production date?
just for S&Gs or more accurate #s and the bigger picture of the good old days

Exactly. My 1996 is a late 1996 with a mechanical speedometer.

i have a beater Corolla with 130k very rough wear and tear city miles that has been the family car since late 1996 (dealer car sold relatively cheap)
and was out filling the washer with water today. I looked at the epa hood sticker with a 1996 model year and is registered as a 1996
the door jam tag has a production date of 11/95
the Tacomas i would think are similar

I wanna see a 95.5 in front of Mt. Rainier (Tacoma in the local native dialect).
Extra points for a Mexican-type taco (food) in shot as well.

A Tacoma with a taco, in front of Tacoma mountain ....

triple those points with a shot of the mountain, with a hardshell taco food, in front of the 'Welcome to Tacoma, WA' sign on the side of some road
on a clear day I am fairly sure you can see it in the distance from Tacoma WA (but it has been 20 yrs since I have been in the area)
