Hello everyone I’m new to this but I was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to lock my gas cap or just have any idea on how to lock it so no one can open it. Any help would be appreciated.

Plenty of locking caps on the market if you just do a quick google, but the hard part is finding one that seals properly so it doesnt set off any sensors and lights on the dash.

I'm disappointed that I don't have an inside-the-cab-gas-door-release. Seriously. I mean how much did they save on that?? Getting a locking gas cap requires me to carry another damn key, and then a possible CEL for using a non OEM gas cap.

I’ll look into this. I was searching online and I couldn’t find anything for the 2019 I’m not sure if it makes a difference when compared to the 2018 models but I just want to make sure my check engine light doesn’t turn on

Also surprised as well. Most lower model cars have that kind of thing, but not a near $40k truck.

I know that BOLT sells a hitch lock that can be keyed to your existing tailgate key. I don't think they sell a similar gas cap, but that would be a nifty product.

Anyhow, I've driven a few trucks and it's fairly common for them to not lock (gas cap/door, I mean!). My Frontier didn't, my Tacoma doesn't, and same for the few others that I've driven. I always assumed it was a truck thing. A $40k truck is still a truck, not a luxury SUV, so...

I’ve been using a Stant 10504 since 3500km ago with no issue. Works well, no CEL. Many other people I know are using them, too. If your trying to stop fuel theft it won’t help- It’s purely to stop shitheads from pouring stuff in the fuel filler.

A key would defeat the purpose of having a key fob. Maybe our man MESO could help us out on this one.

Yes, on our work van, they just cut the filler neck. A locking gas cap won't slow them down.

It is probably better to not lock it from that point of view. Gas is cheaper than a new tank.

Get the Stant. Same P/N for 2009-2019 Tacos. Toyota Canada even sells it as a genuine accessory in dealers with a Toyota P/N, though the cap is the same with the Stant logo molded onto the plastic.

I’m actually glad they don’t have that crap. Those systems blow.

You have clearly never had one decide to not work due to gradual stretching. when you’re out of gas and can’t open the door, and in the middle of nowhere.... terrible position to be in.

Usually remedied quick with a little pocket knife action.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I tried one -- it worked for about a month --then the codes started showing up. I took it off and threw it away.

Good Point. The trunk cable release on my '93 MR2 has likely stretched as I sometimes have to pull it twice to open the trunk or it won't open at all, except for the key.
