Anybody in or around AZ or been in the area to camp/fish/offroad? Seems like the Arizona, Utah, Colorado area has so much to do, looking for any must go places or must see sites etc.

I lived in scottsdale for a year, just left for san antonio in february. if you have a boat or kayak, etc canyon lake is fun to camp and fish, lake front camping. Just be warned that it gets rowdy and loud and busy. ANYWHERE along the Apache trail makes for a decent lakeside camping. There's the Camp Creek Campground that is often empty and is right on a small stream, not sure what fish are in it though.

Head up to the national forest in Flagstaff and it's pretty much free primitive camping. Escape the heat.

Well I've been to lake pleasant, canyon and Bartlett so far. But just to visit for the day and check them out, at canyon we rented kayaks and paddled around, but didn't fish. I tried to fish at the other two from the shoreline but that didn't go so well as it seems fishing is best when ON the water. So I have a kayak coming next week actually haha, just wondering if there are any decent lakes besides the big known ones, Roosevelt, apache, canyon, saguaro, pleasant Bartlett, horseshoe etc, I know there are more up north and east a little farther away. Now that I'll have a kayak I plan to slowing just visit them all and see which is best for fishing/camping/scenery etc.

I used to go to Woods Canyon Lake for trout. Good fishing.
Other than that, I was going to the local pond on Guadalupe/Greenfield before they put the blue dye in the water that looks like toilet bowl water now...
Miss fishing a lot, not enough time except in the weekends. Was a time when I was building my own rods, still have 2 custom built that I didn't have the heart to use them.
