Can I use my stock TRD off-road bilstein shocks with my new 3” front 2” rear lift/leveling kit or do I need to upgrade to bilstein 5100’s? Putting 285 75 17 bf Goodrich KO2s on it. For light off road and running curbs and small cars over around town. Lol.

    5100s or the 6112s ? 1500 is a chevy I'm thinking.

Have you tried the search feature?? Try it with "5100 lifted" or something similar.

The 285? prolly THE most asked question since 2015 for Gen3 ..

If just mild offroading why not go with 265-70-17 and some negative offset? Just a thought.

285s are going to look sick on my truck. It came with 265 wranglers stock. This is a shock and strut thread so Toyota factory bilsteins or 5100 bilsteins?

Negative offset will push the tires out some...Just throwing that out there. A lot of guys went with 285s I went the 265-70 with negative offset Got me another inch tire height PLUS the lifted height.

I'm not sure about the factory.. the 5100s are taller likely and have adjustment in the front and the same valving as the stock so ride will be the same.

If you want lifted then you need or should get new springs up front and AALs in the rear ..... Can ask Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road to give you the kit and kabooodle pricing and she will be able to answer the question about the stock shocks.

Is the 3" Front, 2" back, you have a spacers and blocks? If so you can use your front struts, and you may need rear shocks. If you use your stock rear shocks, you may over extend them. Most buy new rear shocks.

Yep I'm putting in spacers and blocks. Screw it. I'm just going to put the 5100's on all the way around and be done with it. To many opinions from to many seemingly knowledgeable people. I'm just gonna go for it with the parts I already ordered and keep my fingers crossed. LOL

The Rough Country kit comes with rear shocks. You can use the OEM front shocks .

Can I ask how it turned out? I also have the 3/2 spacer leveling kit on mine. Love the look, but my shocks bottom out sometimes. I'd like to put in the 5100's but didn't know the dynamics of it. They "should" have more travel, which should eliminate my current shocks from bottoming out. Also, I have the Limited, which came with the crappy shocks, not the original Bilstein's. So it should also improve the ride. Thanks for any feedback.

It turned out great!!! Glad I went full 5100! The 285s rub a tad when I’m going over shit with the wheel turned but the ride is awesome! Gonna mold the wheel well out as much as I can with a heat gun. Not into trimming anything off my beautiful truck at this point in it’s young life. Rides great! Looks sick! Can’t wait for Moab next month!

That looks awesome bro. So, you had a 3" leveling kit and just added the 5100's? That's exactly what I want to do.
Did you just use the existing springs? Did you use the adjustable 5100's, and if so, what height are you using them at?

Sorry so many questions. I'm trying to get the same effect.

Damn! Really digging the stance. Can I ask, what brand and where did you purchased your 3”/2” lift?
I got a 2019 TRD off road 4x4 and want the same stance

I used a Supreme Suspension leveling kit off Amazon. It’s was around $150 and looks and works as well as any expensive one. My mechanic said they are all basically the same. I switched my stock shocks out for Bilstein 5100s. Kept the factory springs. Would love to switch the leveling kit out for upgraded springs to make the ride a little nicer. It’s good as is but if you’re going to go hardcore off-roading I’d go with longer proper lift kit springs to lift it.

Nice! Do you think you can send me the link to those supreme suspension lift? I tried and some says it doesn’t work for TRD OffRoad 4x4..
And for the Bilsteins, what setting did you put them on? I plan to keep my stock wheels and add 286/75/16 with a 1.25 spidertrax wheel spacers.
