I haven't found a preventative either. Once its stained like that it only looks good for a week or so after cleaning the it creeps back up on you

I’d give Adam’s VRT a shot. I’ve been using it for a couple of years w good results.

Both of these are what I have experienced also.

I will try this. I’m to the point where I will try about anything. Thanks!

Don’t waste your money on VRT. I like the product a lot but it is a dressing and will not prevent the issue

Any suggestions for a post-wash wax like Turtle Wax Ice or Maguires Ceramic that’ll help with preventing water spots? My truck is outside all the time so if it rains, the truck is spotted. I heard some waxes are better at sheeting water than beading? Thanks guys!

Nothing will help water sports other than drying your truck after you wash it. Or use DI water system to rinse it so you dont have to dry. I would recommend the megs ceramic over the turtle wax stuff. I prefer carpro hydro2 for a spray on spray off SiO2 sealant, or carpro reload as a spray on and wipe off a dry car sealant, both of those last several months. You could try a rinse aid sealant / wax like duragloss aquawax or even better P&S beadmaker. These you spray on a wet car and dry with good microfiber towels. Beadmaker can also be applied to dry paint and is a very glossy and slick sealant. Heres my truck with beadmaker used as a rinse aid, I have a base coat of hydro2 on there too that I applied a few months back, I use beadmaker every 2ndor 3rd wash. Its great stuff but does it last as long as many of the other sio2 sealants. Using drying aids make drying easier but you still HAVE TO do it u less you use deionized water , you can get a DI system for around $300 and never dry a car again
Also I started using optimum tire protection coating on my tires. The stuff lasts for month, yes like 4-6 months you won't need to apply any tire dressing, in this pic the optimum tire coating has been on about 3 months with no touch ups or other tire shine. You just need to be sure your tires are super clean before you apply it. Use wiseguy from shine supply to clean your tires

    What's a good tire coating/protectant that's non-glossy?

If you do the prep work and get your tires super clean, optimum tire protection coating is unbeatable. Lasts 4-6 months on properly cleaned tires. 1-3 coats depending on how much gloss you want. The rag company is having a 20% sale right now and are one of very few retailers that sell it

I second this. It can be annoying to dress big offroad tires with all the little chunks on the side, but atleast this stuff will last. I really want to try spraying it on with an air gun, I watched a video on it and it looked too easy.

At first I thought a spray guy would never work til I saw the videos online. You're right, looks too good to be true. Amazing product though. For me it makes all other tire shines obsolete

Thanks. Tires were just cleaned really well, but I want no gloss.

Also, is there a tire treatment that dust won't stick to?

Optimum would be one of the better options. Just apply single coat.

One coat is no gloss. And it dries to a hard coating. Nothing for the dust to stick to

Do you apply with a spray bottle or rag?

I used a tire dressing foam applicator. A fine mist from a HVLP gun seems to work well, a hand squeeze spray nozzle wouldn't work well and it would be ruined after using it unless you clean the hell out of it. The stuff dries rock hard

Make double sure the tires are very clean before you apply it
