If I am not mistaken the factory blackout kit consists over black overlays, when you remove the badges you will be able to tell.

If these are the badge overlays I’m interested. Let me know when you remove them.

The actual badges are the original chrome and there is a ultra thin black cover over them.

I’m wanting to remove the entire badge. Can I do that with a heat gun and not ruin the black coating?

I would use dental floss or a thin string to cut through the adhesive tape.

No, you wont need a heat gun, fishing line also works well.

You can apply a a small amount of heat with a heat gun or hair dryer or just leave your truck in the sun. Then use a fishing line to remove them. Plenty of videos on youtube on how to remove the badges on your truck. Good luck!

Back in the late 80s my buddy crashed his Grand Am and the body shop put the emblems on backwards and it said Am Grand. When he took it back to get fixed it pulled the paint off and they ended up having to redo it again.

I plasti dipped my badges and my rear bumper, came out great and only took an hour or so and I used less than a can of dip on everything! No more chrome

I tried the fishing line method when i took my V6 emblem off the back. Wouldn't work. I ended breaking the emblem in half getting it off
