This guy only removes the rear half of the shaft at the CB: https://youtu.be/Ghyoacp7E1E?t=191 though he seems kinda goofy (puts washers back in the wrong positions) so I wonder if the way he's doing it is not advisable. It seems the easiest.

I started to remove the whole thing, then realized its not necessary at all. Just disconnect the 2 halves at the CB, then rest the back half on a jack stand while you pull the bearing off the front half. The guy in the vid also didnt properly seat and torque the bearing either so I wouldnt really follow his procedure. Also, the bearing in the vid slid right off, I had to use a puller to get mine off, so heads up if yours wont slide off you may need a puller. I bought an 8" one from HF to do the job.

Edit: See my post #17 on the first page of this thread for my procedure on how I did it.

Just disconnect the back half, makes the job a snap after marking the flanges for proper alignment!

Slapped this puppy in. Fixed my ~25mph vibes and more importantly didn't introduce any new vibes! I'm ~1" lifted in the rear on Wheeler AAL and Bilstein 5100s supporting the old factory leaf springs.

The sag in the old part is more apparent in person than it comes across in the picture I think. Old part slide off ezee peezee, no puller necessary. Also didn't need to disconnect the front half of the rear shaft either.

I guess the agreement is that the part works fine.

I was, and am, a bit, troubled by the "spicer rep" on Amazon questions page for that item, saying that none of those Toyota numbers "interchange to a Dana/Spicer part number". Maybe that is just CYA on their part, or some agreement with Toyota that does not allow them to list a cross.

That's funny cause this Spicer part I installed in the taco has Toyota molded on the bushing.

If the PN isn't explicitly for the tacoma, even if it works (verified it does), they wont recomend it or approve of its use outside what toyota has approve, for many reasons.

@StAndrew Thank you sir, not having money to burn and having to return wrong items, just kinda rubs me wrong. I don't understand why spicer won't cross reference part numbers. but with this part I can save $100 bucks from the Toyota price tag.

@StAndrew just to verify since I've seen a few part numbers thrown around in this thread since the first post...

Spicer carrier bearing part # 211750-1X will work for our 3.4l v6 1st gen 4x4's?

I noticed a lot of the guys in here have the 2.7l so I want to be sure this is the one you got and that it worked for you

Boom, awesome thanks. Gonna order it, glad I found this thread as I was about to pay almost $200 for one through Toyota.
