Tonneau cover

Noticed that on the underside of middle section of my 2019 tonneau cover there are a couple snaps, anyone know what they are for?

 

They snap on to the front most section when you have them both open.

 

Aren’t they to “store” the hold down straps when not in use, kinda as like Boyitz said

 

I know the black latch does ,but I was referring to the silver snap by the release handle. There are 2 black straps and then back about an inch is a silver snap, one each per side. Maybe I'm just not following you

 

Yep im following you now, the black straps have a black snap on them just as you all said. Thanks, another mystery solved for me.

 

It's not "recommended" according to the dealership to drive with it open but if you must, which undoubtedly you will at one point, those straps are to secure the cover on the second fold.
