    Is it?

under the Tacoma, RockAuto lists LUK LFW260 as the flywheel for $70.79 (I searched '08 4.0 V6), and from what I hear on other cars, LuK is a respectable OEM flywheel manufacturing company.
RockAuto also lists Sachs NFW9130 {#3021600274} for $234.79. Much pricier than the LuK but still cheaper than >$400.
I've noticed a flywheel for an Audi, Subaru, and Honda all seem to be around $200 if it's dual mass.

I've heard before that DMF's (Dual Mass Flywheels) cannot be resurfaced. Or that it's very difficult to do and requires expensive tooling, versus a single mass. And resurfacing may not address the other parts that can wear out in a DMF, vs. a more simple design SMF.

I'm honestly not sure if the Tacoma has DMF or SMF, or if it makes a difference. Such as if another can be fitted.
In my experience on German street cars, people sometimes want to take out the DMF's in favor of an SMF for crisper engagement, lighter weight, and cheaper cost; plus the DMF's destiny of eventually flying apart in shrapnel pieces puncturing the bell-housing.

But if those cars use a small 4-cylinder engine (less balanced than a V6, V8, etc.) then switching in an SMF might lose some smoothness feeling.
FluidAmpr's can help with that but they're like $300-400 just for a crankshaft pulley/damper.

I am asking this for two reasons...

    1. I am pondering installing an alarm system, as my base model RC did not come with an alarm or engine immobilizer from the factory (If my truck is not easy to steal, it's probably not worth the money).
    2. In the highly unlikely scenario of a catastrophic event where I need to GTFO and I've misplaced my keys...

Not really hotwired, but base model RCs don't come with a chipped key so all they really need to do is stick a flathead in the ignition and crank the hell out of it and it will start.

Killswitch or alarm would be a good idea

I actually love not having a chipped key, because I can get spares made at the hardware store for like two bucks!

No, it took about 5 months to find it. By that time I was already in my 17. Insurance bought it.

Back in the day, horse theft was punishable by death; Nowadays, if somebody gives a car thief a well-deserved beating, they go to jail!
