2019 SR 2.7l...rear bumper led back up light idea. next to my tag i have a empty space/ with cap. intended for electrical connection/plug etc.
was thinking removing plastic cap and installing 1 very bright led back up light....i looked online and on here and could not see anyone doing this. all i see is bumper led mods/under truck led mods....look @ pics and see what i mean. plan to remove cap. measure hole and buy a led that will fit close to specs of hole.

So you will NEVER use a trailer? Guarantee it?

I know if I were to buy that truck used from you, and the day I go to try an attach a trailer, I am gonna be PISSED at the dude that did this to the truck originally...haha!

What about making a spot on the exact opposite side of the trailer hook ups? On the right.

Thank you for sharing, but I use a trailer to often for this mod. Maybe tap into the power and use the light elsewhere?

its all about my needs...not someone elses. How many vehicles and trucks do you buy from other people that have mods that you really don't care for or have a need for? no! trailer for me...
BTW...i have no power supply there. its empty......

I completely agree. Modifications like this are also the type of thing that might scare off an, otherwise, potentially interested buyer someday. The whole time they're looking at the truck, they're going to be wondering what else has been changed/altered that they might later discover.

I think it’s rad. But then I’ll never sell this truck, and I don’t tow things.

its an idea. based on the empty space there! and if someone wanted to utilize this space in the future. it's a simple removal of LED and space is back to normal...no cutting of fenders or making any additional holes anywhere....

Your idea sounds interesting, and with the right execution it could be easily reversible for some future buyer who might want to put the towing electric plugs into that place. A couple comments:

    1. My Gen 2 Tacoma had no such port for towing connections, so my flat 4 plug dangled behind the bumper for connection. My Gen 3 has the tow package, and has the connection. Looks better, doesn't work better, so if I were to purchase your truck, I'd revert to dangle method.
    2. If your plan is to make this new light switchable, it would be very handy in any number of instances when working behind the truck in the dark. If you intend to make it switched on with back-up lighting (upon shifting into reverse), I suggest you check with your home state inspection laws. It would not pass PA laws.

gentlemen... I see this is not a popular idea with you guys that like to tow or have a power outlet..(have no power oulet! empty hole!)but for me it's an easy option because I don't plan on cutting the fender or anything. My whole question was has anyone else done this? but thank you for your inputs.....
