Pro tip: travel through sketchy towns in the early morning hours. all the riff raff is asleep and there is nothing to worry about. We have some clients out in California and we only do breakfast meetings.

i am not looking for trouble! was just trying to locate a 'hole in the wall' fried chicken 'southern style', those can sometimes be gems i hear, was not able to find any place...

the only time I found myself in any real sort of a mess was roadtripping with a bud of the opposite race to his family's place in Waukegan IL (i had a car he did not & needed a ride, I had never been to Chicago before so I said what the heck! let's go!) was hanging out in the back of the wrong Cadillac one Saturday evening in north Chicago, I was the only white guy around and thought the gals and a couple other guys in the car were watching our six but apparently this car was in some trouble (mighta been lost recently in a poker game or something (its been 27 years now but I can very much recall getting pulled out of the back seat and popped a good one in the jaw ouch ouch))

Spent several weeks in Washington Park doing a preliminary survey for a storm structure update.

Talked to a couple different people when we were out working that told us that if anyone gave us trouble to let them know and they would take care of it. Haha

Also hard a blacked out Tahoe pull up to us in the late afternoon one day. He rolled down his window, flashed a badge, and told us not to work past 5.

that is rather close to where I usually stayed during the MVC tournaments i was able to get to at Scottrade/Kiel ... whatever it is called now ... before local school Creighton left the conference (bummer)
the Motel 6 off i64 down the road from there, I found it to be the most 'budget' friendly place to crash after spending countless hours watching hoops and not a whole heckuva lot of traffic crossing the river to go get some shut eye for the next days games

    Hey STL Tacoteers,

I'm a little new to the area and looking to get some toys on my taco finally. I've done some reading up on lift/suspension work but it feels like an information overload on some of the forums. Right now I am looking to get the old faithful 5100s w/887 or 885 as I don't really need anything beyond that plus $$$. Only looking for light trails and some overlanding, no aggressive rock climbing etc. Looking for input on where to get a good price on hardware and install or other options that may be better. Is buying the parts online and taking them in to a shop better or doing it all through a shop etc. Appreciate the help and time.

    that i did not know!
i was going to stay there again if i ever make it to some Cardinals games, or if Creighton returns to their economical senses and returns to the MVC and stops going to PA,NY,NJ,RI,DC to play conference games

Look a little further east to Fairview Heights or O’Fallon. You can take the “red bird express” from Fairview to the ball game and back.

I'd roll stock for a while until you've been out a few times then decide what you really need. These trucks are very capable stock and honestly theres very few places in the midwest where these trucks would have any issue even in stock form. A lift is unnecessary unless you are moving bigger tires.

Join us for a mod day and an outing. You’ll get a good idea of what you’ll want from there.
