First off, I'm new to TW and I'm sure I could've found this answer somewhere if I searched for a long period of time, BUT.. I have a 18 Tacoma OR currently on stock suspension with stock tires. I'm looking to upgrade wheels and tires and I am curious as to what's an affordable, but good lift that would not have any rubbing if I was to run 265/70/17 tires?

Lift doesn’t directly translate to bigger tires. The wheel width is typically the problem. Many folks who don’t want to bother with UCA, trimming and CMC run skinny tires. However I dont think you’ll have issues with a 265/70

You don’t need a lift for that size tire. It’ll fit the truck as is.

What are your aspirations for your build? Are you going more so for looks or do you go offroad in your truck. Many will tell you if you are an avid offroader go for a true suspension lift kit. If just for looks leveling kit, and that would be cheaper.

I have 265/70/17 on my Taco w/ no lift. It will fit perfectly fine with no rubbing. Welcome to TW by the way. Pics of truck?

If you are planning to take your rig off the road, suspension lift is a better choice.

I also debated this - I just went with a leveling kit - it’s cheaper

If you’re going to go off road, a suspension lift is the way to go.
As said, tires on the tacomas have issues usually with width...and you’ll probably want to recal your speedo.
Everyone says “upgrade” and on the Internet upgrade is super subjective. What do you want to do to your wheels and why? And upgrade of wheel to me would be getting the 2020 Trd pro wheels since they are lighter. That might not be what others think is a “upgrade.”

If you put on huge tires you might want to regear.
All and all it will cost you.

I honestly just want to upgrade tires and wheels for looks and a better stance. I mainly drive highway and occasionally will be off roadway but nothing extreme 265/70/17 is what I had on my old Tacoma so I figured I'd go back to that. However I've read where people do report rubbing on a 265/70/17 tire. More or less, I want the truck to sit and look as level as possible, with an aggressive stance via tire/wheel combo. I've seen a lot of people put a 2" in front and a 1" block in the rear but Idk. I currently have blacked out all my emblems, I'm getting the TRD Pro Grille put on tomorrow and I eventually want to get rid of my chrome rear bumper camps and either get ones painted to match, or maybe leave them black..

I suppose I could remain on a 16" stock tire if I found the right tire/wheel combo?

Just got home from having this done! Next is maybe a 2” spacer in front and 1” block in rear maybe and then to get rid of the chrome bumper caps. Would black look okay or should I go MGM caps

Looks good - I went with a 2.25” leveling kit, 1.25” wheel spacer, and 285/75/r16 KO2s - a lot of trimming was needed as well as a cab mount chop. The pro grille looks so much better than the chrome oem grille.

As previously stated, there is no need for a lift/level to fit a 265/70/17 tire. I am currently running those without a lift and have zero rubbing issues. I did just order a 2/1 leveling kit and that should go on in the next week or two.

Lift it with Bilstein 5100 and OME's springs with AAL in the rear or go with the Eibach Pro lift kit and AAL in the rear. 265/70/17 Tires are fine at stock height. I'm running this right now until my lift kit comes in
