Any thoughts on how these would compare to the Rigid SAE yellow fogs?

The OA dimensions are tricky to find,
Also I might just be bad at reading.

These should fit inside of a plate bumper’s fog light cutouts, correct? Just like a different BD light fits? Same body and all that?

Same BD body, different optic. So yes it should fit.

Dose anyone know if you can swap the lens from the sae to a driving combo? I dont have a Tacoma, own a f150 i know i know but ford forum vs Tacoma the Tacoma has more knowledge. Im wondering is it just unique optics/lens? I plan on running them as the sae fogs until i get a winch bumper, if it has the larger hole ill run the bajas, if not ill order the ridgid sae fogs and convert the bajas to the driving combo and mount them on my a pillar. Although i still will wait for @crashnburn80 review of them, he has done one of the, if not the best write ups ive read in a long time. Baja should send him a set of the white and amber to test.

Somewhere in this thread it says that just swapping the lens will not work. It’s an entirely different light. So much so, that Baja Designs decided to not even offer a retrofit to turn existing lights into SAE accepted lights. Your only option, if you want the Baja Design, is the buy the SAE fogs.

I was thinking i read that somewhere that it was more than just the lens, have they said anything about swapping white to amber or vice cersa? My factory HIDs are pretty good but halogen fogs are lacking. Not sure if i want the white or amber fogs yet. Thats the reason ive been looking and waiting on the BD lights, hopefully they will let us change the lens out.

Thank you for an excellent SAE solution for fog lights, question though, in the picture is shown on the first page it doesn’t look like there is much, if any actual cut off line in the night output shots. Do these not have a moderately sharp cutoff line against a frontal wall or side walls? It appears to just be a lot of scattered (but very useable) light.

They are making amber and white. I do know that you can swap from clear to amber lenses on the other lights, so I would think you could do the same with the SAE’s, if you ever change your mind on the color. But, I’m not 100% sure. If you tag Baja Designs with a question, he will probably be happy to answer.

The lights will be included in the thread at the time of release, just like every other SAE fog.

You will not be able to change colors. We don't plan on offering any sort of SAE lens kit.

This actually makes a ton of sense. I was wondering how you could make swappable lenses since I'm guessing they are marked SAE somewhere on them. Otherwise people could buy the marked lenses and put them on non-SAE lights.

@Baja Designs Quick question: for those running aftermarket steel bumpers, do I need to purchase the entire kit (light + vehicle specific mounting kit), or will just ordering the lights suffice?

For reference, I’m looking at putting these fogs into a DEMELLO bumper.

Ordering the lights only will be just fine. Call us and we can sell you fog adapters so you can plug into the factory wiring

The Squadron SAE is the first street LED offering from Baja Designs. This light retains the same form factor as the rest of our Squadron Series, but the pattern and circuitry are optimized to give our SAE Squadron a road-approved punch! We’ve put this light through rigorous tests to ensure that it would be an upgrade from common LED and Halogen factory fog lights. If you want to upgrade your daily driver with a road-legal product, the Squadron SAE line is for you.

When you say "now available" does that mean the preorders are being shipped and people can purchase on the website?

Well I was gonna wait for @crashnburn80 to review the ambers before deciding on a set of fogs but sometimes the impulse buy just happens.
