So for the first time since owning my 2017 tacoma sr with a 2.7 5 speed I changed my own oil. As I was changing it I happened to notice that the transmission has started to crack. Has anyone seen anything like this on a truck with this low mileage? What could cause this besides a bad casting? I havnt done any real offroading besides some well maintained state forest roads that could have been done in almost any vehicle. I have a lift and larger tires, and I purchased the extended warranty when I bought the truck. Im wondering if toyota will try to say the lift or tires caused this.

I'm not sure those are actual cracks. They look more like lines cause by flaws in the mold used during the manufacturing process. Is there any oil leaking?

This makes sense. I'd still mark where the cracks end and check back in a few weeks/months and if expand then have a shop weld them

report it to the Toyota dealer and Corporate if something happens down the road with it you have back up for a case.

I think that’s just a casting imperfection like others have stated. That fluid is operated at 180-210 degrees. There would be expansion and leaking of fluid if the case was actually cracked.
