Hit the plug with a hammer being carful not to distort the Allen
You can even hammer the Allen socket in place

2 hard smacks and it will come right out
I know it sounds hack but it really works
Do it at work all the time

    Lube monkeys over tighten everything

I’ve had to airhammer overtightened stripped drain plugs out.
    Don’t strip it!

I rounded out my drain plug and I have to used a cold chisel to remove it.522AB5AF-677C-4044-826B-9D5F069A7803.jpg

insert allen wrench and hit it hard a few times with a hammer. comes right out. hit it with upside down air in a can to freeze and shrink the bitch. that works too

Toyota WAY over torques these front diff drains at the factory. I’d love to know why.

I don't understand how you haven't stripped it yet. I'm pretty sure that bolt is made out of butter.

Pretty much this, first time I did mine required a trip to the dealership for a new one as well. Breaker bar with full force leg managed to round it right out immediately. Used a BF easy out to get it out after a few good whacks and some heat.

If all else fails, tack weld a nut on the plug and use a wrench to get it off.

Another vote for a torch. Doesn’t take a ton of heat to encourage things to play nice. 9F469B1C-A2E2-4F48-8C64-5EAB52AB3509.jpg

That allen drain plug is a terrible design. Heating it up will expand the plug and make it more difficult, you want the vehicle cold. The Lexus plug will avoid this headache.

    Meaning programmers.

Meaning the engineer that gave the programmer the spec never had to loosen one after 30k or so of use.

Which would also cause the 'allen head' to go away.

    Not Enough and it continues...
I tried my fill plug first. Came out easy with a 1/2" ratchet and Allen socket. Tried the drain and thought it was coming only to realize I hadn't got all the dirt out and I was about to strip it. I dug it all out and got the Allen in all the way and then I couldn't break it loose. ...but I do have a pulled ligament in my shoulder.
So I get the impact, make sure the Allen is all in, and bump the trigger....zip.... it spins all the way out and all of the gear oil with it. :annoyed:
Oh well, I was changing the oil.
