Totes for pickup bed

I have some other Hardigg cases that fit perfectly side by side between the wheelwells... Unfortunately Hardigg is highly custom so you probably won't find one that anyone can offer specific feedback on unless you're buying new ($$$$). All the used ones I've seen come in any size you can imagine.

That said, I recommend them over literally anything else if you don't need a lockable case because you can find new ones on ebay for dirt cheap from time to time and they are both waterproof and durable as hell. I just strap mine down with a cargo net locked to some hard-mounted tie-downs for security

 

+1 on this. What I was using before I got my topper. Here's how it fits in the bed.

 

I have a rubbermaid tote that fits nicely between the wheel wells and under the factory tonneau. I have a milk crate in it with cleaning/detailing stuff and a basic socket set and a couple bags with miscellaneous tools that get swapped out regularly depending on what project I want to do while I'm at work.

Does anyone know of any good waterproof lockable containers that can be permanently installed? Not looking for the typical truck toolboxes

I have one of those, it is the cat's ass. Two wheels and an extendible handle, easy to move over the rubber bed mat. They go on sale regularly.

 

I have a collection of pelican 1620 and 1660 I use depending my needs for that trip

We went to Yellowstone and had 4 1620s standing on end, a pelican 45 cooler, a yeti cooler, a pelican 20 cooler and a Weber Q 1200 all in the bed of the truck

 

I second this. All of my camping gear plus emergency stuff fits in this bin. The handle is great that I can use a bike lock to tether it to my bed.

 

I like my Dewalt Tough System cases. Stackable, lockable, waterproof, really sturdy

 

What kind of cargo net are you using? I am trying to find something that will stop cases from slide when out camping and have been looking at Gladiator cargo nets to replace tie down straps but don't know if they will hold things tight enough. I have a long bed and was looking at the 4.76' X 6'

 

Won't do any good in a short bed but a full size pickup tool box fits perfectly in a long bed length wise I put pressure treated skids on the bottom to fit in the bed groves I remove one bed bolt put it through a hole in the box bolt it down and lock the lid holds a lot of stuff and is water tight.

 

I have l-track in the bed to connect to and found https://www.safaristraps.com/cargo-nets/light-med-duty-polyester-cargo-net where I can get smaller sized nets, I will probably take that route and see if I can make it work.

 

I have a cheap bungee net that I keep in the truck at all times for when it's just light security required for casual thievery and run and the small Gladiator net when I need more security. It's not perfect and even the Gladiator net would only last a couple minutes against someone with a set of EMT shears but it's enough of a deterrent thus far.

All that said, I'm about to sell all my cases off and migrate into 1-2 large pelican cases so I can secure them a bit better. A lock through the hasp and chained to the truck will make me feel a lot better on longer trips where losing my gear and food might be a larger issue.

 

A waterproof cargo bag might be a good option for you. They make all different sizes for roof tops or hitch carriers but you could just put any of them in the truck bed.
