“Ruby Roo” -AR15xAR10’s Lady’s 2016 Subaru Crosstrek Premium -Build Thread

Since everything about this car has been and adventure, I figured it would be nice to document the build!

The story:
After much deliberation and looking at several different vehicles, we decided to look at an Orange 2013 Crosstrek when we were out chasing waterfalls one day. We decided that we’d like to come back and test drive it later that week. So, we did...and it was beat up pretty badly. So we passed on that one and kept looking. I spent about two months digging through classifieds, autotrader, autotempest, every subaru dealership in the state and surrounding area, and lasty, cargurus; arguably the most helpful tool for finding used cars!

We saw this particular crosstrek on cargurus and noticed it was a one owner, optioned exactly like we wanted, priced within our budget and it was 4.5hrs drive away just outside of Cleveland OH in Wickliffe. The following monday I called the dealership and had them go over the car with me. After about a day and a half worth of phone calls, we got the deal done. I even got them to install subaru OEM remote start at their cost. So we formulated a plan to go get it the next day. I skipped class for the day and my retired father took us on a 10hr journey to get this car.

It was a little more rough than we expected when we got there but otherwise it was mechanically perfect and only had 9900 miles! It was evidently owned by an older person who had gotten the knack for “parking by feel.” So there were a lot more scrapes and scratches than we were expecting. But the interior was immaculate and it had everything we wanted, right down to the rear cargo mats and auto dimming mirror with homelink. So we got it and drove it back. A month later we refinanced locally for a killer rate and saved a year on the pay off. I don’t think Alec’s first car buying experience could have possibly gone any better!

We use this car for traveling because it gets more than double the mileage of my tired old Tacoma. Join us here for photos of mods and adventures and we both hope that you enjoy!!!!

You has a part number on the Pro Dry Mason?

 

For this car? I do not, but i will look it up right quick and add it to the OP

EDIT I think the air boxes are the same on all the 2.0s and 2.5s so this filter should fit, just have not had the balls to try it yet

I wonder how many of us on here have a SO with a crosstrek? lol

We've had a 2018 for over a year now and love it! (I also daily a forester so I'm partial to Subies)

 

Seems like toyota people gravitate towards WRX/Legacy/Crosstreks

Its a turd but we love it!
