Yes adding more nitrogen is a thing. It stiffens up the shocks, effectively stiffening up the coil rate. What coils are on now and what pressure did he put them to?

Don’t attempt to let pressure out yourself. There’s such a tiny amount of gas in them that you’re guaranteed to fuck it up without the right tool.

    A thing or two...
Like @EatSleepTacos just said, adjusting pressure to fine tune ride is a thing and you need the right tools to do it. However, tuning the shim stack on the piston is the right way to tune the shock.

Max pressure is 150 psi, and you run the risk of blowing out the seals above that. Most people just run 150 psi and tune the piston shim stack.

They are decent. Ride is ok they hold my heavy ass truck up. A beefier version of the 5100s have taken a lot of abuse and done me well.
Yes that is a thing. Usually people start at 150psi (which I believe may be the max) then adjust from there. Now this part of shock tuning is the final stage after all other adjustments and tuning. Valving and stuff should be done first to get that set up right for your truck and the springs, weight you carry, etc. This is just a very simplified answer once you go down the rabbit hole of shocks, tuning, and suspension stuff it can get really confusing. If you are having ride issues with them or feel they aren't suiting you well, I would suggest sending them off to Accutune or Filthy motorsports and have them tune the shock to your truck. Then go from there. There are other companies that tune shocks those are just 2 that I have worked with/am working with and have done a really good job for me.

Yep tune the shock itself first then start at 150 and work down after all other adjustments have been made. Its just the last adjustment. If you get into IBT, bypasses, or clickers there is just a lot more you can do before messing with the nitrogen pressure. I will say that tuning and adjusting nitrogen press. is part of the right way to tune it's just your final thing to mess with after everything else has been exhausted.

I agree just tuning by adjusting the nitrogen pressure and not messing with anything else is a band-aid for a poorly set up shock.

Ouch the big dent in the middle doesn't look to bad. Then I saw the one at the body line and bottom that looks pretty bad.

The intrusion beam is bent and the shell is wrinkled, so the door is junk.

Manassas has a damn good fireworks show. We usually hang out downtown with kids a bit and tailgate nearby and watch the show.

Happens to the best of us I guess. I thought it ironic since I was just talking to Tyler about his dent and I did this 24 hours later.

I'm avoiding DC this year, metro shutdowns, secondary events on the mall, and self preservation are keeping me away LoL

We usually stick around Fredericksburg and check a few events locally, but taking it to the country this year and camping at the cabin, with our own arsenal. My buddy is shooting a show in Elkton, VA for the fourth and Rick's on the River in Fairview Beach on the 6th.

He had essentially the same weight that I do, and he ripped them up to 140 I believe, but he’s not totally sure. The springs are #700, which I know may be a bit heavy for my 3rd gen with little weight, but I am going to try em out. Also going to get skids and maybe a front bumper this summer.

    Thanks for the input everyone

Take the preload off the springs and go from there. 140 is good.

I had mine inspected and replaced a year ago by Chantilly Toyota. They did a great job and were quick
