Alright, I've got my whole front end torn apart putting in new JBA UCA's and Kings, I figured while I'm at it I would replace the LCA bushings with Whiteline ones. After a b***h of a time removing a rust welded cam bolt... The LCA bushings WILL not budge. I'm using the bottle jack method that seems to work pretty well for most. I heated the arm for a good 10-15 min but nothing is moving. I mean I'm burning rubber alright, but the metal sleeve is not moving a bit. I'm worried I'm gonna bend the arm if I apply anymore jack pressure.

At this point the original bushings are toast, no pun intended... But if I can't get the sleeve out I'm not sure what my options are.

I might try a ball joint press I just gotta find the perfect diameter sleeve.

    Any help would be appreciated!

I used arm strength and the bottle jack; they were so tough that when the jack finally pushed through, the bushing literally shot out the other end. No heat.

If you bend them, hit me up and I'll sell you an arm (or both) since I have a pair just sitting at home.

I feared this for myself. I was debating to just buying Moog assuming I could get the old ones off the truck. You got them off the truck? I don't have a torch. I was wondering how to cut the bushing apart with a sawzall.

We'll, just one side, but yeah I had to cut one of the cam bolts... The other came out just fine. I I guess I could burn out the rubber and then carefully try to fit the inner sleeve..

New arms, its easier, new bolts if you end up cutting them out.

Yeah I've got new cam bolts knowing I'd have to cut some out. Any reviews on Moog replacements?

Shit I should just start all over and go long travel:spending::rofl:

Some poop here on other than the bottle jack bit that could come in handy if using a BJ press. Rest of the thread has good stuff too.
Also don't be shy about smacking the control arm eyelet. On the side, 90° to the bolt hole with the bushing under as much tension as you care to muster. Then try the smack with heat.

IMG_20190701_175000353_BURST000_COVER_TOP_resized.jpg so after heat, beating and all full 12tons of preasure... I'm left with a bushing that moved 1/4 inch... And a totally bent and thrashed LCA! Oh... how I LOVE rust! Hahaha... I really beat it to death...just look at the carnage!

Any difference between 4Runner and Tacoma lower control arms other than where the sway bar mounts. Because I can find used oem 4Runner lca's for half the price of Tacoma ones on eBay.

HEAT!!! You HAVE to use a torch to release the bushing to avoid that lol

I ended up getting a MAP gas torch and got it red hot (literally) and they popped. The bushings in the pic don't look like they are really melted so I figured you didn't is all. Mine were dripping out and the center and rubber fell out before I pushed the outer race of the bushings out. Mine weren't as rusted though so IDK

Luckily the LCA isnt too expensive. That is actually impressive as to how much it bent!

Alright... It's all about the holes Gents (and ladies). Got my $42 eBay find 02' 4runner LCA in the mail today and these were my results. Obviously Toyota decided to add holes in the LCA bushing mounts for some purpose... And I know it's not for weight savings!

Here's the 4runner LCA with bushings removed... Took 5 min with the bottle jack method
    IMG_20190712_151944329_resized.jpg
    IMG_20190712_151931989_resized.jpg

The hole allows you to use a punch to concave the old bushing sleave making it MUCH easier to remove!

    6122019153821.jpg

So, some quick work with my drill and a few minutes later my original passenger side LCA (which had been spared from mutilation unlike my other one) now also had some "facilitating holes".
    IMG_20190712_152013886_resized.jpg

    Here it is before drilling...
    IMG_20190712_151952321_resized.jpg

It did take a bit longer to press out the bushings from my original LCA... But it went 100% better then my driver's side 2 weeks ago!

So if yours aren't budging... Make some holes!

I used the bottle jack method and map gas on mine a while back. Popped out with little drama. Used new Toyota bushings and was off in now time.

That’s crazy they didn’t come out...
