I agree, I wish we had a better reverse ratio. Backing up a hill with a car full of adults is no problem. Backing up a trailer or boat with ~1000+ pounds kind of sucks.

Does anyone know why they made reverse so tall?

I heard somebody on here wanted to put a ball on the front end and drive it up that way.

No good reason that I can think of. Unless it was a packaging issue inside the transmission. It is possible that they couldn't physically fit a better ratio so they just put in what they could. At least that's what I like to tell myself. In reality, I think they just screwed up.

Our last two MT cars were this way also. I can only think packaging also.

Sounds like that third one is going to be needing a new clutch soon, probably been used on one too many test drives by people that didn't know how to drive stick. Or maybe someone at the dealership took it home to practice on

Towed 4000 lbs this weekend and backed this up and down some long roads and driveways, can’t tell you how I used the clutch, ancient Japanese secret.

No accumulator delete, either. Stock as the day I drove it off the lot.

I found the shifting from 1st to second was giving the most “bucking” it started shifting easier when I was making my shifts at 3k rpms and not allowing them to drop below 2k before releasing into the next gear.

I’m all into trying 3 quarts of the Redline MT90. I’ve just searched the world over for the the OEM Part #s for the two crush washers that I need to do this. Anyone have those part numbers?? I know if i go to the local Toyota parts counter I will be there for an hour unless I have those part numbers in my hand!

Should be "90430-18008 which is replaced by 90430-A0003".

It may be, but I am not sure. It's just a crush washer and you can probably get one equivalent at most auto parts stores.

If you have a hard time getting it to go into first at a dead stop, release the clutch and push it in again. Usually it allows first to engage.

Just so I know, where did you find that? I'm assuming it's in a thread here on TW? I want to bookmark it for when I change my fluid.
