Hi all! I've had quite a few Tacomas over the years (6~ish?) and often times visited these forums for info. Figured it was time to toss my hat in the ring and join you. Perhaps sharing some of my own information, or just some cool photos, can help others as you've helped me.

The first thing I do when getting a new Tacoma is have a leveling kit installed. Just looks truckier... overall more appealing imo. For my 2019 TRD Off Road I had a Pro Comp 3-1 kit (spacers) installed. Being nervous about getting larger tires (I didn't want rubbing therefore a need to trim my new truck) I replaced my stock tires with stock sized BFG KO2s... love these.

My truck looked out of proportion though sooooo I started looking for information regarding getting larger tires... targeting KO2 285/75R16s. There is a slew of information on youtube, here, and elsewhere regarding lifts, tires, rubbing, trimming, UCA concerns, etc. My goal was to get larger tires with zero trimming. Here, at actual tire shops, and elsewhere I saw and heard it all regarding a need to do *blank* (trimming, replace UCA, spacers, etc), and many said that they'll fit right on with zero issue... plug and play... without even a lift.

So I stressed a bit and decided to go for it. Here's what got my truck to where it is with zero trimming required.

    Replaced 265/70R16 with 285\75R16:
Pro Comp 3"x1" already installed prior to switching the tires. Tires cleared the wheel wells just fine... zero rubbing. BUT... when burying the steering wheel there was significant rubbing\ pressure on the UCA. So... there goes the plug and play for my truck. I asked the shop to switch them back to the stock sized KO2s. The manager had an idea...

The tire shop made a special run to my local 4 Wheel Parts to pick up wheel spacers for me. They ended up getting 1.25" spacers.

Now I am happy to share that I have zero rubbing, zero uca issues, an awesome bit of negative offset (wheels stick out about 1")… perfect. I got the exact look I was shooting for.

So to go up to 285/75R16 requiring zero trimming or issues my set up is:

    Pro Comp 3" front x 1" rear leveling kit (spacers\ block)… Part# 65205K
    G2 aluminum wheel spacers... Part# 93-83-125T... 2 sets. 1.25"
    BFGoodrich All Terrain KO2s... 285/75R16

    Pics attached...

Hope this helps someone out there!

    Thanks for the welcome, all!

btw... I replaced the stock grill with a TRD Pro version as well. I preferred the old timey Toyota look vs. the T logo. Sensor works just fine (although doesn't feel as sensitive, not a bad thing). Installed it myself in about 1.5~ish hours. Easy job. Ordered the part off of Ebay

Next up tomorrow: Matte black "Toyota" insert letters to fit into the embossed Toyota on the tail gate. Then maybe roll bars...?

Welcome! Stock OR wheels look way better with aggressive tires. Should have tried this before buying new wheels!

    Looks really nice!

So.....if I get 285/75/16 on my PRO, I should be good then? Or should I get the spacers also?

    Hi itsmermf,

    Thanks!

I’m not certain. My guess based on hearing/ reading various bits of info is that you would need to do pretty much what I did in order to fit these without issue (no rubbing, trimming, replacing the uca, etc). Although given I believe the Pro is 1.5” higher, stock, from other TRD’s you may only need a 1 or 2” leveling kit.

Again... I’m not certain. Good luck!

Welcome. Remember to torque those spacers at every tire rotation. Looks good.
