I had ordered Avids bolt on sliders w/kickout. I just had them mounted at the shop and will be removing for paint soon.

First and foremost, I had nothing but excellent customer service from Brandon. He’s a standup guy and rather than “knowing better” and telling me no on the higher angle, he heard me out and let me have it built with a higher angle.

Quality of weds is immaculate. I am overly satisfied with the final product and highly recommend giving them some business.

I digress. On to the pics

Thanks man! Yea I am going to pint them myself. I just figured there’s no point in paying for powder when I’m going to scrape them up anyhow. I just need to try to find a paint that matches the semi gloss ARB bumper.

Good call. I would advise you to def rattle can them instead of powdercoat if you're going to use them. Rustoleum satin protective enamel worked great on mine. I def recommend rustoleum self etching primer and paint. Great stuff. About $4-$6 a can. Buy at least 3-4 cans of primer and paint

Excellent. Thanks for the advice. I wasn’t sure how I should tackle it. I’ll take your recommendation.... it will be super cheap and much easier to touch up that way

Here in AZ, we are blessed with low moisture. I have had raw steel from scratches on the outside of my sliders for months now with no rusting. It’s crazy. Rustoleum is killer stuff. This Jeep guy just did a YouTube test where rustoleum paint held up the best out of like 12 different spray paints against rust and erosion. I did my steel sliders, skids and rear bumper ALL with rustoleum self etching primer and then rustoleum paint then 1-2 clear coats of rustoleum on top. Works great and holds up GREAT out here in AZ. I used mineral spirits and rags to clean the steel prior to priming it. I literally just painted a bumper yesterday in this fashion and it worked great. Total $60 spent on paint. And it will get abused so spending money on powdercoat is very silly IMO

We prefer Rust-Oleums bed liner spray. It goes on easy and thick. I've experimented with Upol's etch primer and then followed with the bed liner spray. Both work well but with the sliders, don't bother with the primer. Over time as you drive through dirt, snow, ice, sand and whatever else you find the kickup from the front tires will eat away at whatever paint you have. Some remove and do yearly touchups or those of us with weld on just gather scratches.

I'm glad you're happy with your sliders and thank you for the post! We have to watch that angle on DCDBs if you want to open your doors.

Just got back home today after a week in Phx and made time to paint the sliders. First note...... they’re much harder to remove/install solo lol. Other than that they came out pretty nice. I had a bit of an issue with 4 of the 5 cans of rustoleum. After shaking for a few mins, they would spray the paint for all of about 3 seconds before having to reshake. I have used my fair share of sprays, so I stuck them in a bucket of warm water (not that it’s cold in az, but I was at a loss), and they were still jacked up. I made it work but I painted half of my portch too (shaking and spraying simultaneously and growing beyond frustrated).

Anyhow final product came out decent.

Also, thanks to all of you for helping out and giving your input on processes and paint. It is greatly appreciated.

Crazy, I've never had an issue with the cans of Rust-Oleum. Only with the upol etch primer did the employee of the paint place put them in the shaker.

Is that a 20 degree angle?

@2ndGenJonny Are sliders built at 0 degrees?

these are 15 degree. They usually make them at 12 with lockouts.

Sorry, late to the party. Been dealing with life stuff.

12° is typically it for DCSB kickouts. No kickout he can do a bit more IIRC. Mike's thread should show them here in the Avid section as well.

Brandon typically will do changes by request.
So if you want something, just email us. I'll see what we can do if it's within reason and doesn't cause too much extra Fab work.
