i have an unhealthy attachment to my tacoma (which I admit to needing counseling lol) that i would like to say very few can totally understand and relate, but everybody's situation is different and therefre I cannot say that! in just two short years i will have had this truck for half my life and in the 7 months on TW i am not sure I have encountered anybody else in a near-exact & similar situation except maybe one (but I don't know his age!)

What do those rotors and pads run? I think the centric rotors and Akebono pads for the taco I spent 80 bucks on Amazon? That right? Shoot I forget now

I put brembo blanks on my truck. A whopping $70 per rotor.

All in for a front brake job on the highlander is gonna be $120.

When I did my brakes I ordered a kit off Amazon for my 04 and they sent me a kit with rotors that were for a 2nd gen Tacoma. The brake pads went on fine but I had to finish the job so I just went down the street to Pep Boys and all they had were some cheap Wagner rotors. Think they were $40 each. Been like 20k miles since then and no issues

But with the offroad use I don't expect to get maybe more than 50k out of them

I only replaced the rotors at 55k because they looked like crap all rusty on the fins and hats. That and I had to beat the hell out of them for them to come off the hubs. The highlander has 0 rust so in theory I could get them turned, but at 165k (first brake job!) I think replacing them will be a better bet.

eh yeah with how cheap rotors are in general I think it's better to just buy new ones.

Yeah now I think the rotors were 30 a piece and the pads were 35? So probably around a hundred bucks, if you DIY, to get good quality close to oem Toyota front brake job. Anything under 200 bucks is a steal. I think the stealership charges around 450 for all new rotors and pads and labor.

I couldve gone with the $30-$40 rotors but I wanted the brembos cause theyre powdercoated on the hats and fins. I think it was @zero4 who told me to buy akebono pads for an earlier first gen as it would save me $15 over pads for my 04, only difference being the position of the squealer.

You’re over estimating them, they literally stuck a Home Depot bucket where the water gets sucked in haha.

That’s how I felt ordering stuff for the Civic. Everything is dirt cheap. Hell I only paid $45 for a brand new master cylinder. The front and rear brakes together with drums, pads, rotors, wheel cylinders, and hardware only cost $60. And they were Centric branded.
