Nice. You can't even hear the AC. You have to look at the tablet mounted on the wall or look on your phone to see what's up. We also revamped our front and back yards.

Just lost power for one second.
Just enough time to screw up the clocks and the friggin coffee pot.
Does this 5 or 6 times during the summer.
Clear skies, no wind, go figure..

The mason bees agree. I want honey bees but the wife and probably neighbors say no.

Maybe invest in a couple battery backups. I have one for my security cameras and another for all my phone/internet/network equipment. Unless power goes out for hours nothing goes down like that.

Not a suggestion on brand but what to get.

My wife thought honey bees would be pretty cool as well, she sent in a request to the township about information concerning keeping them.

We got a cease and desist letter back as well as a warning that we would be fined if we didn’t get rid of the non existent honey bees.

    Good morning all.

Took the day off and am heading to the beach. No; the real beach.... In RI... Not the fake beach in CT (Long Island sound)... Side benefit is I'll get to stop at one of the clam shacks for some vittles.

I’d like a flowhive for bees. So easy to get honey but big bucks. We can get ag exemptions for honey bees

:pccoffee: Good morning. 67° and 91% humidity. Another hot and steamy day today then in the 70's for highs this weekend. At 0500 this morning was trying to recall why I put wren houses around the place. Small little birds sure do make a loud racket. They better be earning their keep by eating insects.

IIRC Susan had that same issue with hers recently. In 2007 my oldest son came in and woke me up at 2 in the morning and said there was a problem with the ceiling in his bedroom. I got up and stood in the doorway of his bedroom and the ceiling was bowed a couple of feet down and water dripping out of the center. Few seconds later the whole thing gave way and came crashing down, good thing he woke up.

The AC air exchanger is right above his bedroom. The condensate drain line had plugged and all the condensate backed up and pooled above his room. Hundreds of gallons. Because it doesn't have a float switch, those switches are a good thing... Only time I made a home owners claim and got a nice letter from the insurance company that if I made another claim in the next 6 years they would drop me. I hate insurance companies.

Mine has to be all of that and more. I did replace the boiler a couple of years ago for the same reason you did your AC. Heat can be a matter of life or death here. Although after having 6 heat strokes and passing out more than 20 times of heat exhaustion over 20 years working in the steam plant of ships I don't exactly do well with the heat and humidity anymore.

Be 65 in less than 4 years and don't see myself being here in a few years. Either in a multi level house in the woods that takes a lot of maintenance or where it is teens and twenties below zero. In fact could move now, to anyplace as long as it has a high speed internet connection. Just not sure where though.

70's Anderson sliding windows. They suck LOL. Last year I put a floor standing unit in the den for the son and it was a major job blocking the open side of the window with layers of plywood and insulation foam. Hole for the condensate pump line and another for air exhaust hose. Also have a small window unit in the reloading room casement window that died last week and I replaced yesterday. Took me 2.5 hours to get the old one out, I put that thing in there good LOL. Have 4,000 rounds of shotgun shells being delivered today. So the kid and powder stay cool and dry me not so much. Haven't seen the dog much he is living under the sons bed in the den. Don't think he is a fan of the heat either.

On the ships and even in my previous window\central AC units it was usually the motor start up capacitor that would go bad. Pretty sure the compressor on this took a shit in the big bed :pout:

Lot of people around here raise honey bees. They do it as much for the farm exemptions and tax breaks that it makes you eligible for as they do the honey. In fact many just let someone else come in to harvest the honey.

Wow....Never knew this to be possible! 2 months from retiring and I'm able to sleep 4 hours later than the old "internal alarm clock" would have allowed!

Plenty of cordite smell in the air last night. Me and "chicken dawg" (Tiny Yorkie, scared of everything) went to sleep early and just missed it all.... Surprise!
