Hoping someone can guide me in troubleshooting my Power Window issue. The weld broke on my Driver side door check quite awhile ago and I wasn't aware of it so it was hanging inside the door. Window was working but bogged down to some resistance about 2/3 of the way down so I wasn't going past the halfway point. Was waiting for an opportunity to take a look (I work 2 jobs) and after a while both windows stopped working altogether. (Power Locks are fine). I took the door panel off and saw the door check issue. Can't find any breaks in the wiring and all the fuses seem fine. Thought maybe there was a relay somewhere but there doesn't seem to be one. Any Ideas? By the way.... I drive a 2005 2 door Tacoma (Been VERY good to me)

Where exactly is the ground terminal location for the power windows? Was it corroded? Loose?

Haven't located it yet...….I just know it is the problem. When I ran a length of wire from the battery ground to the back of the master switch at the ground wire port the windows worked fine. I'm considering just putting a ring terminal/ground wire assy on the inner door frame and splicing it onto the wire at the connector......or I may take the time to pull the kick panel and hope to find a grounding point under it

If the door check broke, you probably also have a bent window channel inside the door. Couple threads about it. You'll need to either bend it back into shape or order a new one. Real easy to replace. Take off the door panel and check that window channel before buttoning everything up or the window may stick 2/3 of the way up again.

yup..... a bent window channel makes sense. Like I said in my original post.....getting some resistance about 2/3rds of the way down......I will check out those two threads.....thanks

I took my bent one out and worked it until it was good, test fitting it several times. It works fine now. If I were to do it over again, I should have just bought a new one as it would have saved time and made sure the channel was perfect. I think they are something like $15. Good luck.

The most likely failure in the ground wire would be a broken wire where it flexes at the door jam.
