Did my differentials and transfer case yesterday for the first time with the help of this thread and others. My magnetics and fluid actually weren't too bad for the 30K I have on mine.
    20190705_170218.jpg 20190705_174350.jpg

I used this pump and it worked well. About 100 pumps per bottle though. From autozone-
    https://m.autozone.com/test-scan-an...d-pump/performance-tool-fluid-pump/332794_0_0

I also used this oil for all three, -
    Mobil 1 104361 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 12) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009IE2O30/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_iOkiDbABVQ0MP

I also found this from a tacomaholics youtube video on the subject, ordered it and will install it with next change- https://trailtoys.net/products/magnetic-drain-plug

All my fill and drain plugs came off relatively easily. Didn't need PB blaster or anything even after 30K and for the first time!

This is why you do 1,000 mile break in fluid changes.

Why 75W-90 for the transfer case?

Didn't realize they changed transfer cases figured it was the same as the 2nd gens with the same fill and drain plugs and the same torque specs etc. Saw videos and posts of people using that fluid for all three or if it was a different fluid they were still using the same fluid for the diffs and transfer case so thats what I did. I could always swap it with something tho its only a quart in there and I'm planning on adding that magnetic drain plug sometime.

    Dealers will even use 75W90...
I don't know if it's a matter of ignorance, convenience or economics.
Choose whatever you like; you just can't claim ignorance as to why 75W90 is in your transfer case.

FWIW, I asked a CLS(Certified Lubrication Specialist by STLE) about cross compatibility of the LF fluid. He could not recommend a suitable substitute.

No idea bro...I'm a computer geek, not a mechanic or oil scientist. This is why I go by oem spec.

Sorry, didn't mean to bung you up.

Someone will chime in...the OP would have a much better take on that question.

You might get lucky here tho, this forum usually has no opinion regarding oil...perhaps someone will get chatty

    I thought everyone knew... /s

I got the LF fluid from toyota to avoid it.
I doubt there is significant difference in oil viscosity, you should be good until next service.

There have been a few members who have done it, who reported no ill effects...yet.
Then again, I wouldn't expect anyone who willfully ignores the spec, to come on here and warn others if/when their's goes tits up.
My two main concerns would be, (1) GL-5 gear oil and yellow metal compatibility and (2) pumpability through the transfer case pump.
