I recently purchased the kit from Dobinsons to lift the truck. I installed the 110r leaf pack out back and the gs59-221 shocks with c59-314 springs up front for 2-2.5” of lift . I ordered new UCAs to help with alignment, and that’s where the issues begin. I have read that 3rd gens require the UCA thru bolt to be cut and installed in reverse order, and I agree with this. I spent hours trying to bend the passenger fender out and it is layered with sheet metal and WILL NOT bend out. The driver side is just as bad.. I have resorted to cutting the bolts and going that route, but on the driver side, the refrigerant coil is smack in the way of pulling the bolt out backwards, so I definitely don’t think I’d be able to install the new one in that manner. Can I bend this refrigerant line or am I screwed? Anyone who’s replaced UCAs on a 2019, feel free to chime in on what you did!

Having the truck aligned as is. Will post pics of before-mentioned issues as well as alignment specs shortly.

The UCA bolts do not need to be cut. The sheet metal does not need to be bent much to get them out and back in from the top.

I bent all of the sheet metal in the fender back, and tore it up pretty good while doing so, the bend where the bolt makes contact with the metal is 3 or 4 layers thick and will not bend at all. I used vise grips and channel locks and any other tool at my disposal. It isn’t budging. There’s a thread here somewhere discussing this. I’ll do my best to find it..

The bolt will rub on the sheet metal, but it will come out. I know this because I’ve done it, along with many, many others.

Here’s a post by @synaps3 from another thread titled UCA Bolt cut and replace back in February:

Just bumping this because it came up as the first search result on google....

On the SR5 (possibly all 3rd gens), the metal you need to bend for the passenger side bolt for the upper control arm is too thick to easily move. You need to cut the bolt and replace it.
There's a reservoir there that isn't on other trims, and it's mounted to a plate on top of the sheet metal of the wheel well. The plate and wheel well are fused, so you literally CANNOT bend the sheet metal out of the way on the SR5. Anyone who disagrees is wrong.

The part you'll need for the Upper Control Arm Bolt for a 2016 Tacoma is 90105-A0095. Hope that helps people searching for this info, it took me 10 minutes to find that part number too. You just install the bolt backwards when reinstalling; there is plenty of clearance that way.

How did the alignment on stock uca's work out? I am thinking about putting the same springs on my truck. How do you like them? Thanks.

It worked well, but the lift that I gained was nowhere near what Dobinsons advertised so I swapped them. But they rode great and I had no issue other than the height.

I had 1/2” of lift driver side and 1” lift on passenger side. DCLB with sliders and steel ifs skid.

I had 1/2” of lift on the driver side (front and back) and 1” of lift passenger (front and back) with just the sliders and the single skid. If you’re rocking the DCLB, odds are that you will rethink the kit entirely. Email Mike with Dobinsons and let him know exactly what you’ve got and what you want and he’ll steer you in the right direction.

The alignment will be fine with stock UCAs.

Last time I'll bother you. What did you end up doing on the front and what height did it settle to? Thanks again for the help.
