Did the bolt head have a crush washer or any type gasket? If not, I'd say it does not go through.

See the O-ring on the inside surface. That is likely the seal. For the record, I don't have a diff lock, so I am just going by what I can see here.

I know it's not activated because I can hold one tire and the other spins. All bolts are out and wires are unplugged. I'll just beat and pry somemore thanks for the help

Turns out I was being to big a pussy and afraid I was going to break something after I broke that bolt. A little frustration and a bigger pry bar she came right out. A couple operations of the switch and it worked just fine. Thanks again

took truck to dealer as last resort to get these damned rope hooks off before Monday
they had the proper tool and a mini sledgehammer to get 3 1/2 hooks off VERY SMOOTHLY they came out, last one I had stripped myself had to have the head snapped to get the hook off
i can deal with getting that broken stuff out and rethreaded at another point in time i guess one last headache for now
but now i found another headache to deal with :(

i suppose it is best to coat threads with antiseize when I get them put back in

the process of taking those hooks off in their garage was NOISY echo as hell with the sledgehammer on the steel lol ... not a wood handle

they are not rusty yet! just a little bit corroded on the one that came on out smoothly as butter with the bang bang bang

but now that I seen it done once, I can repeat the process again, just need to get those expensive tools for a 'one time' job lol

If I can source some, I'll post a DIY/HOW TO/STICKY/PDF/SPIRAL BOUND WALK-THROUGH/TUTORIAL VIDEO, just need to find a set that'll fit.

The struggle is real my friend!

I replaced my LBJ's about 2 months ago; ain't nothin' but a thang' now.

Those rope hooks though, they could go at any moment!

Removed my bed hooks using my #2 JIS driver. I have rusty hooks like everybody else.

No effort required to remove the screws when using my JIS driver.

I will throw them in a bucket of diluted muriatic acid then hit them with some VHT ceramic paint and bake to get a good ceramic finish.

i HAD the good rain snow sleet ice protection too!
but since I am changing liner type to avoid a COSTLY nearly $4k paint and restripe job to stop the various starting oxidation & eventual perforations i gotta have the hooks exposed now
