It kinda makes a difference the method used to make the stack of dimes look; a little weave or stacked tacks! Yours look good.

    Nobody should stack tacks ever.

Stacked tacks stand out like a pimple on your nose!

This is a good argument, but it really won't make a difference unless you are truly welding 4 solid hours or more a day.

The random, small jobs that we mostly do, the weld, pause, weld methods is just fine.

    Hahaha

Haha I was just playing and stirring the pot. I definitely don’t tack stack and I know you all can tell that from my welds. I appreciate the kind words. My “whip it dime stack” looking method helps me rhythm wise for whatever reason. Kinda just how I learned and how I always do it now

I’m a hobbyist welder and stack tacked some overhead stuff the other day, a skid mount.

Finally finished my front bumper. Here are some pics of the dimes stacked the other day:thumbsup:

Lol not surprised. Ill talk to the guy i work with now who worked at Newport News and see if he has any contacts still in the welding/hiring area.

Least it looks like they hire in at higher levels. Most hiring for federal stuff you start the same as people who dont know anything lol. Though youd move up fast there. Every now and then they open up hiring for coming in at higher levels.

Usually you just show up with a beer and cocaine and they know you’re serious. Having a stripper for a baby momma helps a ton as well.

Welcome to dealing with the government. Biggest cluster fuck ever. I was a civilian Navy employee for 2.5 years and started looking for work back in the private sector after 18-months.

    "Hobbyist welder".

    I dunno?

I think you should be moved up to "skilled amateur".

Not going to steal the catalytic converter out of my buddies Excursion ever again . He wanted it hard welded in, so that's what I did .
Converter is fully encapsulated, even if you cut the pipe at the muffler, she ain't coming out.image.jpg

In my part of the world show up show you can strike a Arc pass the drug screen! this gets far to many sadly

Show up every day for a month your leading a road crew

All of the Major Companies put you through in house weld school each company is a little different .

So many Pipelines and Compressor stations being built is anyone left in Texas ??

Driving Company Trucks in Creeks Ponds or Lakes is frowned on!!!!

Sadly, you will get shown the door faster for telling an off colored joke, than sinking the welding truck.

Depends on the place I still hear some pretty good jokes once everyone has known me for awhile

The usual complaining about clueless purchasing agents who only buy on price having no idea what is being bought

Finally got around to installing my porch fence structure so people can't see my Amazon packages.
I think I am going to cover it in perforated steel with 3/8" holes then give it a rust patina
I built the panels in the shop, and welded them together in place . I beat the heat, started at 7 am and had everything put away by 8:30.

Don't you guys start making fun of my old first gen Tacoma, she is tried and true, still runs like the day I bought her 16 years ago. 239,000 miles, not a single problem. She is due for timing belt, water pump and some new ball joints .
