I need to figure out how to take preload out. Seems you would dial back (up on the coilovers?) the collar, ya?

Frankenstein looks sweet though!! As you've said in your comments, bet it is fun to drive.

Still figuring out all the nuiances to the ADS shocks. I'll be stoked to get my rears relocated...just need to lock down a fab person to help me with the various tasks that go along with the relo.

Thanks for the responses...the info is certainly helpful to me!

I built a tool from a cheap pry bar. Works great. But yes you just need to screw the collars up. Keep in mind, taking preload out is a lot easier that adding it with the collar without compressing the coils separately. Which can be a big pain for the standard guy in his garage.

Franks a beast to drive and super fun. I really miss driving him but haven't had a shop space to fix him back up in a few years. Kind of sad..

    someday though.

Cool. Tyler from ADS told me via email that a 5/16ths steel punch works well too. I haven't measured those holes and I'm assuming that this is the size that fits well. I'll definitely play with adjusting the preload more once I have the rear shocks installed and then I can really get an idea of what is what. I also just put on new rear leafs from Alcan so they are still in their "break-in" period...a bit bouncy when unloaded yet (400# over stock they are with 3" lift).

Bummer about Frank; I assumed he was still running strong! What ails him?

It’d be easier to say what is not done to it.
What are you waiting for brother? Also thanks for this thread. It’ll probably help me in the future

Hey Monte. Did your lower ball joint steering stops rub the lower control arms at full lock driver/passenger?

Yes. No way around that with the extra travel. Best thing to do is grind off the stubs on the lbj.
