My setup except with the heavy leaf pack should give you a nice ride for $1500. Add @Plastics Guy Durobumps and you will never fear a cattle crossing again.

    A hatch back too.

First time I drove on a public road, I was 14 and rolled that thing down the driveway after my parents went to sleep and pushed it halfway down the block before I started it because the exhaust had holes in it. Made the rounds and gathered up some friends - I think there were like 6 of us because I remember people in the hatch / trunk area.

Got stoned, drove from Alameda to SF (got through the toll plaza without a second glance), and found our way to the Coit tower and parked parallel facing down hill. Serenade by Steve Miller Band blasting over and over (on auto repeat in the cassette deck).

Became like a bi-weekly thing for what now seems like the better part of a year to steal that car and cruise. When I came back home I’d have get up to like 40 and kill the engine a block away to coast it back up the driveway so my parents wouldn’t hear it. Never got caught.

For sure. Another part of that story is how my friend started to steal his mom’s car. She was a hard ass Glaswegian. Fucking militant sometimes. They lived around the block. Well he and I and more crew went out one night her car and somebody got chocolate on the upholstery. She didn’t say anything. She must have been checking every night because a few nights or a week later, when took it out again, when he was dropping me off she was just thundering down the street in her blue robe and pink curlers and a thick Glasgow accent.

Those were some good fluckin times.

I was going slow on the cattle crossing. I normally drive slow and I slowed right down for the crossing. I'm just too heavy for what I have. I made an appointment at a local place to fit OME light up front, Heavy plus AAL in back, and K02 tires all around. Expensive, but it will give me a nice driving truck that can take the load and the bumps.

I would stay away from additional heavy stuff. Will cause you more harm than it avoids. Beef up the rear springs appropriately, and then stay aware and take things slow and careful when the road gets wavy.
