Hey I’m new to this and I honestly don’t know much about suspension and if having a 4 inch lift causes a lot of problems. I just want some information about 4 inch lifts on a Tacoma. I know people will say having an inch more lift isn’t going to do much but I have gone offroading quite a bit and have encountered not being able to cross a little dip in the trail in which it was less than an inch of clearance. Pease get back to me with positive feedback cause y’all definitely know more than me and I’m just trying to get educated on this stuff!

Most people here seem to like headstrong off-road one of our venders. They can set you up. Anything 3” or higher you’ll need upper control arms to get your alignment right.

OP not sure where the thread is but there is a huge thread full of information about the RCD lift. I think it was moved to suspension section now.

If you want to go 4 inches or more you’ll need to get a drop bracket lift, which means you’ll need to cut a section out of your cross member. I went with a Rough Country 4 inch D/B lift because I like the stance that the 4 inch lift gives the truck. Just so you know there are a lot of R/C and D/B haters on this site. I’ve had my lift on for 2 years now with no problems or alignment issues. The key to having this done is to get it done by a reputable shop that stands behind their work. As for the haters...To each their own. I don’t do any hardcore wheeling but I do a lot of hunting and my truck serves me well. Determine how you’ll be using your truck and then do some research to decide what’s best for you.

What is your current lift now? If stock, going from 0-4" is excessive.

I currently have Bilstein 5100 adjustable leveling kit which I was told sits at 2.75 inches

If you plan on offroading and looking for additional clearance, you are better off investing in a true 3" lift and armor. DB lift would not benefit you in an offroad environment and you cannot go back to stock easily.

I *think* I know what you said here, but don't want to assume.

    Care to elaborate?
