Ive had my sr 2.7 for a year now and no problems at all. I'm averaging 19-22 mpg.

I’ve had my SR 2.7L DCSB Auto for about three months. It doesn’t pick up speed nearly as fast as the 3.5L V6, but it gets me and my family down the road. I’m averaging 17-18 MPG—mainly city driving. No complaints from a power train standpoint. I just wish Toyota equipped the SR with intermittent wipers. Fog lights, hitch, and fender flares are my ideal mods.

I'm nearly 3 years in with my SR, I probably like it more now than when I bought it since I've added a few things for convenience/utility/aesthetics.

I have been coveting a 94 single cab pickup that's for sale locally, if I was in the proper position I would add it to the stable but I could never seriously consider replacing my current truck with that.

My only complaint is the black paint never stays clean for more than 12 hours, but that's not specific to Tacomas and it's 90% my fault anyway since I like driving down dirt roads.

mines great!! they are best if your looking for a solid TRUCK .some buy thinking they are getting it something else .the 2.7 is a 20 year ownership engine for a guy who wants be smiling the second half. and even if say a starter or alternator go easy to get to easy fix !! I don't see any other truck out there like it!!ps don't be afraid to put your foot into the automatic it moves out pretty good.

@casey2012 no, my exhaust sounds normal and quiet. I did add the black chrome exhaust tip but it makes no difference in sound.

The 2.7L exhaust is about as loud as a Prius. The VVTi makes more noise than the exhaust. Coming from a Honda Civic with a "fart can", I wanted something I could hear at first, now I like the silence.

I love the truck. My only complaint is the lousy ToyotaCare free service, where they scratch and dent your truck.

Gotta love the 4-banger Toyota engines for the longevity, not the power. De-tuned to last over 200k. Although, was not aware of the Auto tranny gear’ing before purchase. Had to re-gear to love the truck again.

I agree. The engine seems noisier than the exhaust.
