    Demographics.

I’m the ghost of trucks past.

Allow me to whisk you away to a different time- back to 2000. We’re driving around, smashmouth is on the radio...What do you see? Almost every Tacoma is an extended cab. In fact, MOST trucks are just simple 2 doors. You know. Like regular fucking trucks. Crew cabs were uncommon. OH RAD blink 182, I haven’t heard this song in a minute. TRDs aren’t very common either. Most of these Toyota pickups are SR5’s. Look over there...see that guy driving the minivan with his wife and two kids? He has a minivan because that’s what’s appropriate for a family his size. Remember this guy, he comes back later. But look around. Every once in awhile you’ll see that first gen crew cab abortion, looks like an upside down pregnant guppy, but by and large all these trucks you see are TRUCKS. Ok. Shows over. Back to present day.

Toyota trucks have evolved to meet the expectations of whichever customer base will bring the most money to them. That may not be you, and it certainly isn’t me. Because these days, unlike 2000, you can’t throw a rock without hitting a TRD. I have NEVER seen another SR5 in the wild in my region. All I see are TRDs driven by the elderly. You can’t throw that rock without hitting a four door truck. The four door TRD short bed is that new minivan, and that guy you saw back on our little trip, him and hundreds of thousands maybe millions of soccer dads have ruined the DIRECTION of trucks. It’s shot. In order to get a proper Toyota truck with a proper fucking bed and a proper fucking wheelbase you have to get a lower trim, because daddy knows what he wants. He wants a TRD. Look at what’s desirable in trucks, to common folk, across all brands-

Power seats. Climate controlled seats and zones. Automatic trans. Refrigerated consoles. A tablet in the dash. Massive amounts of leg room in the back. Sippy cup holders everywhere. Blind spot alerts. A wrapped steering wheel. Just look at that ford platinum edition. People aren’t satisfied if it isn’t a luxury condo on wheels.

I mean look at how many people froth at the mouth over the stereo system. A truck is a truck first, and an entertainment system last. But based on the posts you see here, the priority is the infotainment system. If some of these people could, they would spec out a fucking head unit and build a vehicle around it. These are the demographic.

The reason you can’t buy an actual truck anymore is a result of a bigger problem with our culture.

Because of the lack of competition, as indicated by the phrase "it's all we got..."

If you have a 2nd gen, what insights do you have into 3rd gen criticism and feedback?

Glass the whole works, everything. Start with the 4 door Tacomas. Time for a global reset, and the return of true trucks.

We all needs a safety release valve to free us of the stresses of Tacoma life...these threads are those valves...just yesterday I hit up my interior with 303.

    Proper ventilation is the key
