Good to check air gap on A/C clutch, utube has several vids on this. Vid by Missouri Old Timer shims it with plastic inserts with success to decrease air gap, see "intermit A/C cooling on Subaru". As A/C clutch ages this gap may increase resulting in failure of the clutch to engage, the clutch uses a magnetic drive so if the air gap is to wide the magnetic when activated will not attract and engage the clutch. Unsure on appropriate gap setting since search resulted in several supposed settings. Purchasing manual by Dave Graham will post if setting available. The current plan is to replace the A/C clutch, part #8841035340 as per vid by h2reactor "A/C Clutch Replacement-Save $1000 Dollars". Good luck, Woodcutter
