When the tranny is hot, the clutch squeaks when is press the clutch in and when it comes out. I don’t know for sure it’s the fork but it sounded easy to grease and see if that’s the problem. But I don’t know where to find the fork to greas.

I swear there is a post somewhere on here that states there is a TSB for the squeaking clutch and has a walkthrough on how to do it yourself.

Shows the diff between the old and new parts what was causing the squeaking. Mine is doing it now so I'm planning on ordering the parts and doing it myself.

Clutch fork pivot is on the right side of the bellhousing on a 6 speed. There is no access to it. I supposed you might be able to spray some lube in that general direction through the access plate on the left side, but that's a huge risk. Mine was creaking, didn't seem to make any difference in how it drove, kept driving it, mechanic said he thought it was in the pressure plate itself, not the pivot. Eventually started having other issues and had the clutch replaced. If it's working and you're just hearing a creak when you operate the pedal, I would leave it alone.

Whelp, need clutch job. Toyota quoted $1500. Ok I guess cause they offered a loaner for the days it’s in the shop.

That's cheap for a dealership quote. Mine wanted $3k to do a clutch on my 04.

Although, why do they want to replace the clutch just because it's squeaking? How many miles are on it? A clutch should last 100k minimum.

Truck it 8 years old in November, has 68,000. I was told from another mechanic he's seen tacoma clutches last anywhere from 30,000 to 100,000 which I think is same for members here. I was hoping to get 200k+ like others but oh well.

I don't want to think about why they want to replace clutch... I think what servco (toyota in hawaii) is doing (I could be wrong) is not pinpointing the exact issue with something but replacing the larger part it's connected to. In this case, I'm OK with it since the noise is clearly coming for inside the transmission and if they have to pull it out, they might as well do it all.

That's usually how a dealership operates, rather than spend time diagnosing something they'll usually just opt to replace it instead. Which is great if you have a warranty but not so great if you don't lol.

You are right though, they do have to drop the transmission anyway to address most clutch related issues so you might as well just replace it if you're going to go to that length. $1500 is a great deal for a dealership clutch job, a local independent mechanic will probably do it for a lot less but I've heard of way higher prices on a clutch from the dealership. So it's not that bad comparatively

OK, my baby is getting repaired. Take a few days. Getting clutch job and I asked them to do the transmission fluid at the same time.

I got a 2019 rav4 loaner. My wife was interested in getting it but got a CRV instead. It was a good choice, the rav4 feels like driving a tin can.

My clutch has been squealing for a few months now. I assume it’s the throw out bearing? Dealer wants $2600+ for a clutch job. It’s got 80k on a ‘15 6 spd. Is I keep driving it will the squealing cause more damage?

My clutch job was 1800 when all was all said and done. Yours could include more parts than me. I know not everything was changed. Master and Pedal assembly were not included for sure. 2600 could be ok if they are changing a lot more stuff.

I didn’t think my clutch was bad but once I had it repaired it felt 100x better. Something clearly was wrong with it.

Toyota wanted $3k to do one on my 04. Take it to a regular mechanic/shop, it will be half that or less. Clutch job isn't hard it's just time consuming which is why dealers charge so much.

Also the throw out bearing chirp is common on virtually every Tacoma with a manual and a stock clutch assembly. A new clutch might get rid of it for a little while but it will come back. I just live with it. Very little chance of a throwout bearing failure on these trucks

I originally took it to my mechanic when I had problems. He said for the clutch, he recommended taking it to Toyota. He said techs are well versed on the clutch and would be better if done by them.
