For those of you looking to get an alarm, check out Compustar.

They have an option (standard on some I think) on their alarms called an RPS where you put a sensor in a corner of your windshield and program it with a code. Then, you just take a key rock, or anything hard, and tap your code lightly on the windshield glass, and it disarms and unlocks the truck.

It came standard on my alarm, and I probably won't ever use it, but my sales guy said the majority of his customers who wanted that were water sports people.

    Just FYI...

Do the ammo box mod. Spray paint flat black. Attach through drain hole in bed. Put a combo lock on it. Works for me when I board sail or sail.

I'm glad I read this thread. It's good to know that the key can survive ocean water with no problems. :)

If you're not interested in taking them with you, put em in the storage boxes located in the bed. I always bring a beach chair w/ shoulder straps that has a large pocket for my towel, wax, sunglasses etc. $29.00 at Kmart

So here's a question. If the valet key only works on the doors and ignition, whats the difference between it and the regular key? Locking the air bag or the shifter? My corollas kept them out of the trunk, although they could just pull the cable to open it. I don't know, I must be missing something here

Usually a valet key doesn't allow you to open the trunk or glove box, but on our trucks i have no idea what it does considering the glove box doesn't have a lock on it, nor does the tailgate

I had a question a while back about whether a magnetic hide a key box would screw up the programming on a chipped key. It seems like it would. No one was ever able to answer my question so I didn't get one.

I was told by the dealer that the valet key is not really a valet key but just used to open a door in case you get locked out. It will not start the vehicle if you have the chipped key (engine immobilizer) setup. Also, if you have a chipped key stashed in or anywhere around the vehicle the immobilizer light on the dash flashes, notifying a thief that there is a key there somewhere. All he has to do is look for it.

I am pretty sure the immobilizer light only flashes when the key is not in the ignition, meaning the immobilizer is on.
