I would have to look at an official TN flag and see both sides to know for sure though..

it looks like the stars are in a mirrored orientation so if the flag is flying in the "other direction" it will appear as a mirror image rather than the same image.

Bottom line, AC ducts shouldn't be in the attic

    got a question for y’all

went to change my oil at valvoline down the street from my house. first oil change since buying the truck.

tech says he can’t get the oil bolt off because it was over torqued and the crush washer could break, leaving me stranded there

he said it’s supposed to be torqued at 18 ft/lbs but the dealership must have used an impact on it. didn’t want to risk breaking the plastic

anyone had an issue like this? apparently there is a steel replacement that can be put on

Valvoline doesn't have spare crush washers? I use a new one most every time anyway

maybe it wasn’t the crush washer...

could it have been something else? he said “the plastic thing” would break and to replace it with steel but they didn’t have the part.

i can drive back through on my way home to clarify exactly which “plastic” part he said he was worried about breaking

I bet he was talking about the oil filter housing. If I remember right the new ones are the cartridge style and you're supposed to reuse the housing? Torque spec on the filter is 18 ft.lb.
You can buy a steel one of those. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008BHP68A?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    thanks

gonna just take the time to do all oil changes here on out myself

looks like replacing the plastic housing with metal is a no brainer

Most likely. Heard 4R sometimes have same issue of dealer over tightening filter housing.

    I concur.

Plastic should be ok. Just don't over torque or crossthread it. I actually used the free dealer oil changes so far so i haven't experienced the fun yet.

idk why cartridge oil filters are starting to become popular.. is it less waste? Less cost? Both?

I'd imagine less cost for dealer?

Glad I'm not the only one.

I replaced my plastic one with metal almost immediately. @Kerleyfries had to replace his because it was leaking as well. Just make sure you use the right size cartridge insert, they come with several to be fairly universal.

Interesting that you had to so soon. I assume dealer has actually changed my filter the last 2 times in.

Still uses same oem filter element with the housing you replaced? Got a part number by chance for what you used?

Less waste, lower cost to maintain. Dealer charges you the same amount but the filter is way cheaper.

I cracked mine. Worked at valvoline for 4 years and still use the “Spin it til it stops” mentality. I just ordered one off of Amazon. I’ll get the part number in a little bit.

It’s the exact same canister and same filter, just made of metal instead of plastic.

Anyone on here live around west Knox and drive a white 2nd gen dcsb with a plate bumper front, and a HC rear with swing out? Been seeing this truck at my townhouses, wondering if they were on here.

cheaper for the manufacturer to produce, not the dealer. The dealer has to purchase the parts from the manufacturer, then they resell and add their mark up.
