Looking for a portable compressor

    Hey guys.

    Like the title says, I'm looking for a portable compressor to run off the 120v outlet in the trd off road. I would prefer it to be small enough to store in one of the back seat storage bins. I would like a setup with a quick connect to change air Chucks or nozzles for inflating air mattresses or floats etc.

    Can anyone make a recommendation?

    I recently got the Viair 300P and it works great but its 12v as well. Fits behind the rear seat though.

    I carry one of these in my tool box in the back of the truck:

    It has a compressor that runs on 12v built into this tool which also jump starts vehicle if your battery dies. Also includes a couple inverted 110 outlets, a USB charger port, a flash light/reading light. And, if the inbuilt 12v battery runs down, you can plug it into the truck via either 12 or 110 volt inlets for recharge/operation. Only thing is, the compressor is kind of slow, so if you need a lot of volume, and you might if you are filling four tires, it probably would take near infinite patience.

    All the usual diesel truck mods- fuel system upgrade, programmer, CAI, intake manifold, j hooked waste gate
    I just got the viair 400 automatic. It works great thus far!!! Fast inflation and fairly quiet. Don’t know if they have one that’s 120v though. I like that it can be hard wired and add a storage tank too. If your looking for something that’s more household/shop based (compressor/tank combo) the only recommendation I can make is look for one that’s oil lubricated vs oil free. The oil ones seem waaay quieter. I bought a cheap 1 gallon Campbell hausfield compressor like that years ago and it sucks. Its loud and for only 1 gallon it takes a while to build Pressure

    400w should be good for up to a 1/2 motor, assuming the motor's start capacitor has enough oomph to provide the inrush current on start.

    Maybe for a bike or motorcycle but nothing more. It would be interesting to see some real world reviews on it. My guess is 10-15 minutes and it’s cooked.

    why is everyone so against compressed air setups. way better, faster, works longer. 10lbs powertank and be done. not as small but you won’t spend ½ your time waiting

    Yup, second to the Dual ARB which is 3x more $$$

    I have the smittybilt and it works great except for the air gauge which is a little off on the readings.

    For occasional use our budget friendly
    $91 Viair 88P Portable Compressor Kit (12V, 120 Psi, Forup to 33" Tires)
    Viair 88P has worked well for our Jeep on 35s. Attaches to the battery and the hose will reach all 4 tires. It stores nicely in a plastic ammo box. Truck is still new to the family and have not aired it down yet here in flat FL. If you will use it a lot then you might consider a more powerful unit.

    Because I’ll forget to fill it and then have to drive to a gas station to refill.

    Or I just use my compressor that always works and I don’t ever need to refill.

    I may have to take a look at these. I was contemplating buying a Milwaukee m12 compressor for light use (mostly airing up tires) since I'm already in that ecosystem, but the videos I've seen make it seem that thing is super loud and slow and not very good... unlike the rest of their stuff which has been great. The only good feature on those seems to be able to have it fill up to a user-set PSI
